The man who answered the phone was very nice & personable. He helped with my questions about the spice levels. He also tried to save us money on our order which is appreciated. Tried the Shahi kheer (rice pudding) and the flavor is amazing ( although the texture was a bit miss- we all felt it should have more rice in it) I’m not a rice pudding fan but this was the very best flavored one I’ve ever had!! I asked for spinach specifically pakoras and they were my favorite of the whole meal-absolutely PERFECT & so flavorful!!!! And I’m a huge Indian food fan, so that says a lot! All in all it was expensive but worth it for our pre- valentine Valentine’s Day dinner to avoid the crowds/business of tomorrow. They are our go to Indian restaurant in the metro - we’ve pretty much tried all the rest several times & most of the others have gone down over the years in taste, flavor & quality . All in all i definitely recommend himalaya for sure! We got “ mild +” and my tongue is still on fire :) thank you himalaya for the quality food & flavors!! Oh our order was 5 chicken tikka dinners( with rice) , 3 orders (2 each) of naan, 2 shahi kheer( rice pudding, order of spinach pakoras, an order of vegetable pakoras, order of raita ( runny watery but good flavor would prefer it thicker) & an order of tikka kabob( boneless...
Read moreSo happy we have Indian food in Moore again! We got chicken tandoori, tikka masala, and a vegetable fritter platter. The somosas are big and delicious! And their chutneys, mint and tamarind are awesome! I do not care for the excessive red 40 on the tandoori chicken, my son was not able to eat any of that, he gets very sick. I wish an alternative would be used. And theirs was absolutely drenched in red 40. It was very fresh, though. Perhaps missing a bit of flavor and smokiness, but tasty enough. Only other complaint is there wasn't very much chicken in the tikka masala. For what is charged, there should have been more than a few morsels. We will definitely be back to try their other offerings. They were very friendly when we picked up our food. Edit: there continues to be very little actual meat in their dishes when ordered for takeout, which is ridiculous for what they charge. I got a goat dish last time and there was more bone than meat. $70 worth of food and they can't bring themselves to do complimentary naan. I will say their samosas are absolutely worth the money, but I believe that's all I will be coming for in the future. There are more reasonablely priced Indian restaurants with better meat ratios on...
Read moreDisappointing. Chicken tikka was so very dry... the curry was watery, acidic, and one note, no depth of flavor in something that's supposed to have flavorful spices.
The chicken biriyani was bland and tasted like it was flavored with only salt. Bites had hard, old rice, and most of the rice was white. Chicken was extremely dry as well, i was very sad. The white sauce that comes with it is overpoweringly acidic and did not add the rich creamy texture it should.
The chicken momos were the worst thing in my order. Boiled potatoes have more flavor. ive had better frozen dumplings. Dont even get me started on the sauce that came with it- completely incompatible and tasted like a watery, salty chutney.
If i had to rank all the dishes, the best item would be the rice pudding, which I'd give 2/5 stars, unfortunately the highest rated dish of the night. It also tasted flat and watery, and the rice was soggy.
I should've listened to the other reviews. 😒 The food was edible but not at all enjoyable. Unfortunately we took a few bites and tried to eat it but it was so disappointing that we ended up ordering some pizza instead. If you're looking forward to some delicious Indian,...
