Normally I don’t condone complaining about fast food workers on social media. Lord knows their jobs must be hard enough.
But let me tell you about REBECCA here, the manager at HWY 10 McD’s in Moorhead, because this morning, she has inspired me to call HER boss, and I’d love to share the experience for all of you, so you know what you can expect if you run into her on the clock!
Allow me to set the scene: I am heading to my job, it is one city block away from this McDonalds. The order was placed a little after 7:30, as you can see by the screenshot taken at the time the order was placed.
I arrive at McDonald’s around 7:45 or so, I don’t live very far away, and I walk in. Nobody is at the counter, that’s fine, the lobby is basically empty and people are busy.
I stand there waiting, people in the back are continually making silent eye contact with me. Nobody is saying “one sec”, or even acknowledging that they run that counter for any reason anymore.
So at about 7:48 I say “excuse me? Could someone grab my order please? I have to get to work.”
CUE REBECCA.
She swivels her head around the corner, already acting as though I’ve placed the curse of 10,000 warts upon her chin and says with the tone of someone who’s been asked to cancel their own birthday…. “I’ll be there soon”.
I said “I really have to get going to work, I don’t have time to stand here 5 more minutes”, to which she says “I was JUST up there, it has NOT been FIVE MINUTES”. Ok? At this point she has walked all the way up to me, so I asked “and you’re wasting more time standing here fighting with me, for what?”
Like you’re right girl, five minutes isn’t a huge deal in general, but your attitude is giving me the impression I’ll be standing here till I die if you have it your way. 👀
She stomps off and reiterates “I will be there in a little bit”. I said “it is a mobile order. It should already be ready.”
She rolls her eyes and asks for the order number, and when I give it to her, she snaps “THAT is for the drive thru”. To which I state, no ma’am, it was ordered for counter pick up, and it says RIGHT HERE on my screen that it’s for a counter pick up. (You can see on the screenshot, where it says “don’t want to pick up at the counter??— meaning IT WAS SET TO BE PICKED UP AT THE COUNTER…)
I tried to show her my screen, and instead she just snaps “WHAT is in the order?”
So I give her the very basic answer to that question, and she rudely snaps at her employees to make one, which they do so with lightning precision and efficiency in spite of being barked at by this small, angry human, wherein she proceeds to walk it over to me.
I decided at this time to get a quick snippet of her face and name to ensure when I told the tale of these plights, I reference only the character responsible, because all of the other employees were polite and seemed embarrassed by her.
As soon as she realized I had a camera in her face, her tone dialed tf down.
I do hope their corporate office is aware that they have a weird boomer power tripping over $3 breakfast sandwiches at 8 am, snapping at guests and coworkers alike, when she can’t even tell the difference between a drive thru or a counter order.
There was really no need to be that angry at someone who paid for food over them just trying to get your attention so that they could HAVE that food.
I usually eat at home, but a little treat sounded good today. Was it worth it? Not so sure.
So look out for REBECCA, she will be mad that you’d like her to walk five feet and grab a bag of food that was ordered in advance without making you stand there for ten...
Read moreI've been dieting for quite a while, so I haven't been going to any fast food places. On Feb. 5th, however I took my kids to Monster Jam so I thought I'd treat them to some cheeseburgers and cinnimelts (or whatever they're called). I tried the southwest something salad because it looked like it would no destroy my diet. We went through the drive-thru. I have to say. I was impressed. Like really impressed. The voice in the box was friendly, helpful, and patient. I wouldn't have thought it possible to establish a "rapport" through a speaker in a menu board, but this kid pulled it off. I went to window 1 and the kid taking the money was in a great mood, friendly, and smiling. I think maybe it was the same kid in the speaker, I'm not sure. Anyway he was loving his job that night and it showed. At window 2 I was greeted by a young woman who was also in a great mood. At this point I was just surprised, as I'm not used to this kind of attitude in fast food. While the girl was grabbing our stuff I looked past her to the employees at the counter. Those kids were also smiling and their customers were too. Frankly the whole thing was a little surreal. Our food order was 100% correct, hot, and the kids didn't peep a complaint. My salad was frankly pretty dang good, too. Don't get me wrong, I don't plan to abandon my diet just because of an awesome McDonald's experience, but as a business owner myself I thought it pretty important to let someone know that their staff is kicking some butt. I'll be back, if only for my...
Read moreGood food. Now that they seem to be making things correctly again. We did have to go back after getting home. Due to the fact half of each of the happy meals were missing. Fortunately the little ones weren't here yet so we had enough time to do so. This time when we went I had a big Mac except it was missing the sauce and at least half the lettuce, plus ordered with extra pickles. I barely had any pickles on it. I noticed same with the cheeseburgers we ordered with extra pickles, they hardly had any, definatly not extra. I find it amazing they now get paid an extremely high amount and yet it seems more often then not they either ignore what's asked for. Or somehow they don't know how to make the big named burgers, not just here almost all the fast food restaurants. Also it goes for delivery as well as drive throu. It's become a little ridiculous. Not only what we have to pay for it., and what they get.. Only to never get a single order completely correct. So what are we all paying so much for. Messed up food and a lack of decent service, paying double to never actually get what we want. People/kids who can't be bothered to learn the signature items for where...
