China Buffet — Restaurant in Moorhead

We go here often, and drive from all over the town to go to this specific one! We would go more if we could! Typically, we go and do take-out as its cheaper. We walk in and are always greeted warmly!! Most would say the food is American-Chinese similar to "west-mex" but that's what we like! It 95% of the time has great flavor, our family of 5 can all eat there - we cannot say that about any other place in town!! We all eat different stuff! We get: Bourbon Chicken (5 stars), General T'So Chicken (5 stars), Orange Chicken (5 stars), Sushi (4 stars), S&S Chicken (5 stars), Chicken Fried Rice (5 stars), Pork Wonton (my favorite - 5 stars), Egg Rolls (5 stars), Sugar Donuts (5 stars), Chicken & Broccoli (5 stars), White Rice - authentic (5 stars). They even do punch cards!! Not many do anymore! It is asked for in our house consistently and we recommend to everyone that visits from out of town. They always leave here saying we are going there again! one thing to note: we went there within an hour of close and they didn't have much on the buffet, we had 2 different people come up to us and ask us what we wanted and they made it FRESH and brought it out to us! we had freshly made food to put in our to-go boxes and took them home - phenominal! i love Chinese buffets and have been going to this one since I was a kid, but being charged extra for the whole box of food that was not fresh ( basically double) bcuz I had 2 single pieces of sushi... is ridiculous... especially after calling to ask about the price since I've never done takeout, and probably never will again. I wouldn't have grabbed them if that was the case, wasn't worth it at all. it was even more ridiculous bcuz it was maybe an hour or 30min before closing, and buffets can't save the cooked food for the next day, so honestly there should have been a discount price. waste of money, and they waste all that food thinking they make more profits, selfish ownership. think about the community & what the people want to get more business, if that food from the end of the night was discounted, it would be a 5 star bcuz that food sitting out isn't the same quality than during the busy times. $19.50 for a buffet. Umm that's higher than anywhere in town.. 10 years ago the food quality was worth that price.

I think this place got bought out and the new owners got the recipes. But they can't make the food like the previous. Lots of corners cut on quality resulting in very weird food.

The sweet and sour chicken was made with precooked leftover chicken from who knows what. But it was so dry, that the breading stripped right off the meat. The meat was hard and dry as jerky. This was seconds after being brought out from the kitchen. Most of the food was either lukewarm or downright cold! I didn't even fill my stomach in fear that I'd get sick. Thankfully I didn't get sick. The bananas in the dessert section even tasted funky.

Some of my old favorite things from their buffet were turned into bad imitations of the original. It's so sad. I guess it never recovered after...
