Luna Llena Restaurant — Restaurant in Moorpark

UPDATE NEEDED.... This used to be on our must go to list, but as of September 2021 has been removed from that list. The last three visits we were very disapointed by the quality of the food. Nothing like we were used to over the years. I emailed the owners but never heard back, so we are done here. Very sad for us.

The entire family loves Luna Llena, something which is not as easy as it sounds. The food is great and pricing reasonable, plus this location has more seating options than the Simi Valley location. My wife and I usually get the three crispy taco plate and a big order of their amazing guacamole, but on today's visit we ventured outside the box.

She got the beef Chile Colorado and I got the Camarones el Mojo de Ajo, both of us shared some and the vote is unanimous; Luna Llena is an amazing place to dine. That and our son even likes the place, so life is good here. Oh, and I nearly forgot to say the service was quite good, our drinks never running dry, the chips and salsa were kept full. I love having this business in the neighborhood. I've been there twice now, and three things I can say are (1) be prepared for slow service, (2) the food is hit or miss, (3) the staff are great. Friendly and really care. On one visit I ordered the tacos and a glass of wine. The tacos were great and, surprisingly, so was the wine. On a morning visit, my breakfast crescent was obviously a microwaved left-over. The cook must not know that microwaving a crescent leaves it with the texture of an inner tube. The side potatoes were freezer-burned store-bought. Besides, I ordered the side fruit, not potatoes. I don't mind a few kinks. The location and the staff make up for a few faults. But they're going to have to stop warming-over frozen foods. My suggestion to management? Please put up a suggestion box for honest feedback. I'm not going to complain...

Good food but very bad service. We arrived shortly before 7 (rush hour) on a Saturday nights. There were a number of open tables and also a few unbussed ones. When a server came over he didn’t introduce himself, wanted a drink order immediately and didn’t want to bring water for our dog — we were seated on the outside patio. Long story short, we had to wait for chips, request table set ups twice, request the water for the dog again, request the bill and then go inside to pay the bill with a surly staff member. No bill was given to me prior to my payment. Then I had to request a receipt. The two servers had negative attitudes. Perhaps this is because they were understaffed on a Saturday night — but that is a management mistake, and certainly shouldn’t be taken out on customers. Unless they want no repeat customers.
