Whitakers Hardware — Local services in Moorpark

Bummer. Have used this store off and on for various things over the decades. Had been some years since I last popped in (well before pandemic). I'm a woman. I usually know what I want when I visit. They are not kind to browsers. Prices are a bit higher on some items, but the savings in fuel to drive elsewhere is a wash. We like to support small business in our county when near. Yes, it is a old school hardware store, and has echoes of decades of manly men hanging out with their "honeydew" lists bitching the way old men do- or as they used to..... visited a couple weeks ago to shop for a birthday gift for a brother... hadn't noticed the t-shirts hanging from ceiling last time... will not be going back. All done with Whittaker - our money is better spent elsewhere. In honor of our WWII, Korean, Vietnam Veterans, and all service members- we will never return to this store. Same for our steller VCSO and VCFD. These guys seem like cosplay...

CASH ONLY BUSINESS! Came in for a simple part and an employee at checkout told me their tap system hardly ever works and that “everyone should carry cash on them”. Sure enough all of the cards I tried were not going through. He seemed to know the corner store had an ATM though (I’m sure this is an often occurrence for them). I didn’t want to drive to Simi valley Home Depot I opted to take the ATM fee and pull some cash out. Upon coming back a man who seemed like owner went to check me out and really didn’t seem to care at all about the issue. Said he doesn’t have a lot of people come in using cards and didn’t seem to care at all if I came in the first place. Definitely will take the drive to Simi next time! Would rather feed a big chain like Home Depot than these guys. Get...

Wow!! That’s all that can be said. If their even open, trying to get help is sketchy at best, god forbid if those boys are on a rant about something, then there’s no help at all! Saw them yelling at at woman because she wasn’t sure about what she needed, I mean shouting!! No one should ever yell at a woman. Jack wagons. All that standing around complaining about anything and the store looks and smells terrible. Selection is also hit or miss, had to wipe the dust off my purchase.
