Mug Shot — Restaurant in Morehead City

I've been here a few times and the service has always been fine. If you're coming for the food or alcohol this might be the place for you. This review is simply about the base ingredient - black coffee. I was disappointed with my drink (probably a latte?) in my first two visits here, so about a month ago I ordered a simple cup of black coffee. Therein lies the rub. I recognize that tase is subjective, so I am merely suggesting that if you want your coffee drink built on a good base for you, you might want to try the coffee first. The coffee tastes like what I unkindly refer to as 'restaurant' coffee. Maybe the machines need cleaning better/more often? I was going save it to doctor it up when I got home, but later realized that I would only be adding good ingredients to bad. I used to drive out of my way to visit the shop that was here maybe 6-8 years ago (?). Right now I am parked in the neighborhood waiting for someone to finish an appointment and thinking I might drive to Beaufort for a decent coffe I can depend on. I am a big fan of Mugshots! I love swinging through the drive-through to grab a biscuit on the go sometimes on the way to work! If you call it in ahead of time, the wait is minimal. I saw a review that spoke on the biscuits being squares... I'm pretty sure they just cook one big pan and then cut them, but regardless of the shape, they are delicious. I've had several specialty coffee drinks here but my favorite is still just a regular hot coffee with cream and sugar! The nightlife here is also fun! I have only been to one event which was for charity and it was awesome. The staff is fun, especially Jo - she's the best!
