Vegetarian / Vegan friendly - With its minimalist and rustic decor, relevant pop-tracks playing in the background and eagerly helpful young staff, Pho Shack seems like the type of joint you'd find in a modern college town or downtown LA. It's definitely not the type of atmosphere you'd expect to find in the heart of Moreno Valley next door to the Harbor Freight and Superior Grocers. The staff (Katherine) seemed genuinely interested in our order and was very helpful in explaining their vegetarian and pescatarian options and insuring the broth used was vegan (without us having to expain or ask). We've had multiple bad experiences at the other Pho restaurants in Moreno Valley and we were excited to find a Pho restaurant that respected our dietary requests without leering at us and a place where we didn't have to explain that beef broth/stock is NOT vegetarian. I ended up getting the Seafood Pho with vegan stock. The fish and squid were actually real (no fake sponge "fish" you get from the "other guys").. the flavor was good and my order was over all satisfying. My only complaint (which seems to be a reoccurring theme in the reviews) is that the "meat" item was in low amounts. My seafood pho only came with TWO (2) shrimp.. was told there would be at least 3 (low amount = reason for 4 stars). My partner got the vegetable pho. The vegi pho comes with real tofu (small amounts) and the quality of the vegetables was good. The drinks were also pretty good; Thai Tea and Passion Fruit. Overall it was a satisfying and pleasant dining experience. I'll be going again and do recommend it. Side notes: Paying upfront seemed kind of strange and its "no refunds" post at the register was a bit unsettling. The restaurant was also clean and well maintained. Notice: They have a promotion going on "free eggroll until the end of the year" (2017) - they don't have a vegetarian option and would not substitute for...
Read moreLove this new Pho place. It's in the same area of Superior Market. Plenty of parking and close to 60 Fwy. Very modern and CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN, specially, its RESTROOMS. Lol. How many times can you say that to an Asian restaurant? (Don't get me wrong, I'm also an Asian, just telling the truth. Lol). I like the concept of ordered and paid at the counter. They'll give you a number to place at the table and food will serve quickly after that. After finishing your meal, just get up and go. So convenient. It saves lots of time compare to a traditional Asian restaurant, whereas, you have to flag down someone for the bill and then again, to pay for it. Especially, when you have to hurry get back to work after lunch.
Food taste AMAZING. My husband got a Beef Salad while I got a Chicken salad. Very generous portions. Both beef and chicken were tendered and tasted soooo delicious. Nothing can beat the taste of lemongrass that comes with it. IMO. Egg roll is also good, so crispy and perfect to taste. No need for dipping sauce, and best of all, IT'S FREE. FYI, it comes with every entree. Thumbs up Pho Shack. Its Passion fruit juice is so refreshing!!! One more cool thing here is its COCA-COLA Freestyle fountain. You can mix a variety of flavors of your choice, as much as you'd like because it's FREE REFILL too. Last, but not least, its Vietnamese coffee tasted awesome.
Service is attentive. While we were here, Kevin, the manager came out to greet customers, he carefully listened to our feedback regarding of food, service, cleanliness... He seemed to genuinely care about customers feedback. With good location, nice and clean, good food, good service, good management, and affordable price... what could go wrong??? Give it a try, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. We'll definitely come back to try its Pho next time. Highly recommend this restaurant...
Read morePho was ok they give a better than decent amount (bowl was huge for one person). It was $8.50 for the big bowl, we got Bahm Mi as well which was $4 I think and some whatever Spring rolls. Ended up being $20 for everything..The spring roll could have been better. I wanted to have my SO try them cause he’s never had but when I had them myself I thought maybe not lol.
Another thing, I explicitly told the young man at the front I wanted hot water (since they dont have tea and I had a cold) and water for my SO also. We ended up having to get up and ask for it after 10-15 min since it never came, even though I asked the guy and he offered the hot water. The other server gave us 2 cold waters even after I talked the the cashier about hot water. Maybe the guy forgot but I feel like he could have at least remembered to bring any drinks at all to our table o.o
Overall could use some improvement. There are already a handful of Pho restaurants in Moval that have established themselves, this place just looks nice inside after the extreme makeover (pho edition). They have vegetarian options also so that is a plus.
The guy who brought us the water was nice attentive though, so thank you for that. I will try this place again and see if...
