Taqueria Zacatecas – A Local Favorite for Traditional Mexican Breakfasts
Tucked into a small business plaza in Moreno Valley, Taqueria Zacatecas is a go-to spot for those craving authentic Mexican food, especially breakfast. On Saturday mornings, the place is lively with families gathering for a leisurely meal, making it clear this taqueria has built a strong local following.
One of the most popular dishes here is the menudo, a rich and comforting soup that many guests swear by. While I didn’t order it this time, it was easy to see how many customers were enjoying it. Instead, I went for a trio of tacos—al pastor, carne asada, and carnitas. The carnitas were tender and flavorful, while the pastor and carne asada were perfectly seasoned and grilled to the right doneness. The tortillas, though a bit on the small side, come in the classic double-layer style, holding the meat well. The green salsa really stood out, adding a bright, spicy kick that tied everything together.
For breakfast lovers, the menu also features plenty of egg-based plates (huevos combos), making it a great option beyond tacos.
The restaurant itself is cozy and casual, decorated with fun and interesting touches—maps, paintings, plants, and even a pinball machine—giving it a unique character. While the prices are slightly higher than average, the quality, authenticity, and popularity among locals make it a worthwhile stop.
Final Thoughts Whether you’re here for a hearty breakfast, a comforting bowl of menudo, or some classic tacos, Taqueria Zacatecas delivers traditional flavors with a neighborhood vibe. A solid choice if you’re in Moreno Valley and want a taste of authentic Mexican cuisine.

Read moreFood was ok, nothing to make a dedicated trip to this out of the way so called restaurant. We had the carne asada and chicken tacos. The meat was a little tough and too chewy, nervy. We got there around 7:30 pm and the one employee / cashier was already sweeping up and putting chairs on top of vacant tables preparing to close. Yes, I said close. They close at 8:00 pm during the week?! With so many food options in Moreno Valley they need to be open to accommodate customers. As it was, we were rushed to finish eating. We were very disappointed, we will not spend our money there again. We are not...
Read moreI was taken back by the how much a burrito is at this place, they charged me over $9 for a burrito that I asked to add rice! But I wasn't having some of the other ingredients that it comes with!! I have never paid that much for a burrito before. On top of that what Mexican place doesn't carry avocado?? I highly recommend La Traspasada on California, Elston and Belmont. Super friendly and super clean. Their food authentic and more reasonable than Zacatecas place. Businesses that are cash only, I wonder if they are paying...
