We had several recommendations to check out this place, and our experience was okay until we put our orders in. Our food took a long time to come out, and everything was underseasoned and shockingly undersalted. The fried components of our meals (onion straws, steak fries) were pale and greasy. The house-made veggie burger was described to me as having a nice, firm bean-based patty that was pan-fried then baked for a browned, crispy exterior; unfortunately it was soft and mushy. The other person in my party ordered Fettuccine Alfredo, and we were both really surprised when we saw the small amount of pasta and single piece of bread served for $12, considering there was no meat or vegetables. We had seen another table's plate of Fettuccine Alfredo, that one with chicken added on, and the portion of pasta was noticeably larger. It's weird that they would be so inconsistent.

Our server was very pleasant and welcoming, but it seemed like she was overly busy because she didn't check in with us after delivering our meals, until finally she brought the check--well after we had finished eating and drained our waters--leaving no opportunity for us to remedy our sad food situation. When we had placed our orders, we mentioned a possible to-go order, and she said she would check-in with us about halfway through our meal to see if we were still up for it. She didn't check in with us; she just brought the to-go meal out along with the check after waiting an uncomfortably long amount of time (she probably knew that if she had checked in, that we would have told her we didn't want the to-go order anymore).

The decor was cool, the people were nice, but we were just plain disappointed with the food and service....

*initial review posted 02/2022. 5 stars. See below

Sadly I must edit my review. About a year ago I discovered Treat and was blown away (see below ⬇️). However, Treat has constantly been problematic recently. I’ve attempted to dine here as a party of two without reservations and been unable to get a table. I even tried to simply place a small order (appetizer, meal and dessert) to go at the bar and was told the kitchen could not take my to go order. Recently I tried to proactively make reservations for a party of 6, days in advance and yet again the restaurant was unable to accommodate my party. The hostess on the phone rambled on about the restaurant being small. I understand the logistics of a smaller restaurant and kitchen. But this is Morganton NC - not Asheville or Charlotte. A staff of the restaurant should be able to offer better solutions or options for a customer. The lack of problem solving skills and inability to accommodate reasonable request leaves me deeply discouraged and frustrated with this restaurant.

*For the longest time, I thought this was a bakery or sweet shop. After enjoying dinner here with a girlfriend I was kicking myself for taking so long to sit down at a table and see what Treat has to offer. The food is simply divine, the atmosphere is intimate and the employees are always so joyful. Hands down one of the best spots to eat...

Stopped in on a Thursday night for dinner, they had a special appetizer of vegan (nachos) that were incredibly delicious, my waitress Liz was very attentive, and just happy and smiley, for my main course I had the secret menu wham pow burger, burger was cooked perfectly medium rare. The wham pow shrimp were tasty and added great flavor to the burger, and the fries were seasoned well, they have a good selection on alcoholic drinks, including some local breweries, I opted for the Fonta Flora Gose that was tasty and refreshing. And then for dessert they had a Oreo cheesecake that was so delicious, Oreo crust with Oreos mixed in the the cheesecake itself, and a white chocolate sauce that was underneath just added to the sweetness. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone, and will be back, it’s definitely worth the price tag and everyone deserves a treat, because it’s good to treat yourself and a treat is different for everyone. They also do have outdoor seating which is nice for summer and fall, and also means that you can enjoy the nice weather with your fur baby, I had my service dog with me and had no issues whatsoever, they were very accommodating, and had a water bowl for her, and treated us both really well, which is more than I can say for a couple different...

We went to Treat for dinner. Even though we didn't have reservations we waited less than 20 minutes. The restaurant has a very modern upscale feel. The decor was very contemporary and comfortable. We were seated and immediately treated with exceptional service. We were offered wine but didn't partake even though bottles were half off for Wednesday. My wife ordered a chef salad and I ordered a ceasar. We also ordered a bread service appetizer. The compound butter and dipping sauce were excellent with the warm bread. Salads were good however mine was a little under dressed and could have used some cracked pepper.(non offered). For entries my wife ordered the filled and u ordered the special bourbon glazed salmon. My wife's meal was excellent and meat was cooked to the requested temperature. My salmon however was cooked over and pretty dry even with the glaze. The star of the meal was the roasted Brussel sprouts. They were excellent. I was uncomfortable giving a 4 star ratting when so much of the meal was excellent, however over cooking the salmon left me disappointed. It is my belief that this is a 5 star restaurant and will give them another shot to earn the 5th star. After all anyone can have a one off mistake. Will try again
