UPDATE** : Save your time, money and appetite for Harold’s in Edison or Katz in NYC. This place is a big rip off. The owner responded to my review so I called and spoke with the owner, Monica, about how my experience was both times. She said the premium meat they sold me as an up-charge is supposed to be more fatty, however it was originally described to me as more lean and juicy (I uploaded a couple photos of the sandwich for reference.) I left the exact time from my receipt & my receipt number because the owner wanted to check their cameras and I also gave a phone number to the owner like they requested of me so they could contact me back 15 min later (so far I haven’t heard back from them yet months later.) I truly felt uncomfortable and on top of that I spent nearly $55 on two sandwiches that neither of us were able to actually enjoy. It was especially disappointing for the almost $30 pastrami sandwich with “upgraded meat quality.” **ORIGINAL: I have been here twice: both times I ordered the same thing. The first time was dine in and the second time was take out because of our poor experience the first time. Both times I’ve experienced issues with the food and the service. My first time here I sat inside and ordered to stay I tipped almost 23% on my order which was a hot pastrami sandwich piled high ( an upgrade that costs $10 which means it’s 1 lb of pastrami instead of usual portion) plus the meat “quality” upgrade option for $2.99 (big rip off) and their turkey sandwich. They ask if you’d like to upgrade to their premium meat quality option for additional $2.99 so I opted for it both times I have dined here. Both times I was delivered very gristly and fatty meat with many bites throughout being inedible. I thought it was just a fluke the first time hence coming back and doing take out however imagine my frustration when getting home and realizing I’ve received the same if not worse quality sandwich. On both occasions they messed up the turkey sandwich in my order and included ingredients I asked them to leave off and left off others that I didn’t ask them to omit that I was expecting on the sandwich. I really wanted to like this place since it’s closer to me than Harold’s in Edison NJ. To top it off while I’m waiting for my to go order the girl who rang me up is complaining to her manager that I tipped them but didn’t tip them 20% or more on a TO GO order. It made me uncomfortable and upset that I left a tip on a to go order at all for them. I’ve worked in the industry for a long time and I’ve rarely ever gotten tipped on to go orders, I also never expected people to tip on to go orders. I have only expected it during special circumstances like during the Covid shut down for example. The manager could have taken that opportunity to offer her some humbling advice instead of making the customer even more uncomfortable by laughing off her complaining to him about it in front of customers. I will not be back and I would definitely not recommend this to friends or family members or co workers etc. I’m giving them two stars for the nice decor and clean seating inside. If it wasn’t for that they’d get only one...
Read moreMorristown has been begging for a great kosher style deli. We lost the Morristown deli, and you know, Milburn Deli is good for takeout sandwiches and salads, but not a real haimishe deli. Well folks, that has changed in Morristown for the better. Welcome the new Pastrami House on Speedwell across from Headquarters and the theatre. How about top notch Pastrami and corned beef...not just good, but truly a great cut of meat like I remember growing up in Boro Park Brooklyn. Or the quality of meat I remember at the Carnegie Deli in Manhattan. But maybe I am a bit ahead of myself. When you walk in you are treated to a throwback reminiscing the classic deli's of the past. Check out the pictures on the wall of old TV shows and music. Breakfast lunch and dinner are available with vegetarian and of course the meat options. From a traditional egg cream to cel-ray soda, Great brisket, or lox and cream cheese with all the best fixings, or pastrami knish with a side of split pea soup...the best. Sour tomatoes, great pickles, a huge array of classic creative sandwiches, tasty sides and comfort foods. The staff is friendly and attentive, eager to get your feedback on the truly high quality ingredients that is all their dishes. And desserts...leave room for Babka, or cheese cake, or any one of over a dozen wonderful choices. They have a fun extensive menu, plenty of seating, a clean old fashioned vibe, great service and top notch ingredients. I am so happy that Pastrami House has made Morristown their home, they have another location in New Providence. Visit them often and enjoy a fantastic meal...make sure they stay and become part of the fabric of our town. Thanks for a delicious meal Pastrami House...can't wait to sample the rest of...
Read moreThey say we only get on chance to make a first impression. After seeing the local and online advertising, we were excited to come and support a new business. We drove close to 40 minutes, searched for and paid for parking. Then upon entering the store, we were completely ignored. We asked the gentleman behind the counter if we need to be seated and he pointed at the tables and told us that "anywhere would be fine". We found a seat and we're ignored. We waited at least 10 minutes and wondered if we were mistakenly waiting and of this was a self service (no wait staff) establishment. Maybe we needed to order first from the counter and then seat ourselves? Just then a young man came and went into a storage closet near our table and we asked him about service. He told us that "you can wait, maybe only 5 minutes more" I waited further and then went up to the front to ask for service. The original gentleman was on the phone, looked at me and ignored me. There was a young lady back behind the counter as well..she ignored me too! This was a terrible "non" experience. We waited another five minutes, then left. I was so looking forward to helping a new small business with a...
