Great restaurant and highly recommend! Why say that and then only give it 4 out of 5 stars? Let me explain. I'm a bit of a foodie and I love sushi. I was very excited to go to Sushi Lounge because it was recommended to me. I was in town for business and after a full day of traveling, I was starving. Whenever I try sushi, I always order the same things if available. First, I get the seaweed salad. Second, I get the house salad with their house ginger dressing. Third, I order a fruit-infused sake. And fourth, I get omakase (this means chef's choice and normally at higher end sushi restaurants, the chef will put together a plate of their favorite sushi and sashimi and sometimes it even includes a roll). Here, I ordered the seaweed salad and it was superb! The addition of some cucumber was unusual yet was a great addition. I highly recommend. Next, I got the house salad with the ginger dressing. Japanese ginger dressing is one of my favorite things about Japanese flavors because it's so rarely found in other American cuisine. Unfortunately, the ginger dressing tasted more like minced ginger with some orange food die. It did not have any of the usual zangy flavor I was looking for. If you love salads with basically pureed ginger, then this is a great option for you. If you're looking for a traditional ginger-based Japanese dressing, this is not for you. I do not recommend. Next, I order their fruit-infused sake. Unfortunately, the smallest serving size was a carafe. As I was on business and eating alone, this was unfortunate because I am not a big drinker. I ordered the carafe and did not end up drinking all of it. That being said, the mango-infused sake was outstanding and I highly recommend, even if you don't finish it all. Lastly, I initially tried to order omakase. Neither the server nor the chefs knew what this meant so I ended up ordering the sushi and sashimi for 2. Like I said, I had been traveling all day and was famished. I felt bad for the staff because they were understaffed and clearly they were all hustling. It turns out that I was served by the manager who was excellent. Despite being the manager, I felt like I still received excellent service. Regarding the sushi itself, it was very good. Below is the picture of the plate of sushi that I received. The manager made a comment about how she was curious if I could eat it all. I ate all but two pieces. I was stuffed. If you are going to order some sushi and you do not want to get this much sushi, I highly recommend you order the striped bass and the salmon. Both were on par with some of the best I've had around the country, including both coasts of sushi. Overall, I definitely recommend this restaurant. The food was great, the service was great, the atmosphere was great. If they can just fix their house ginger dressing and hire some more staff, I see no reason why they shouldn't get 5 out of 5 on every review moving forward.

DO NOT recommend walked in thinking nice place for a sushi lunch date with a girlfriend… nope. Zach the waiter was quick didn’t know how to make requested drinks but asked for clarification and was attentive. the sushi chef Chia was AWFUL made an alaskan roll, which is always cucumber avocado salmon with only salmon and avocado, then when I mentioned the roll was made incorrectly they tried to gaslight me and said that it was correct and this is how the roll is made. Told them I knew it wasn’t and then got offered for them to just add the cucumber to the top of my roll which made no sense??… they reluctantly made a new roll with the fattiest thickest pieces of salmon it was nearly inedible … pics below, if this is the quality you’re looking for go for it but for $50 per person to get this and ONE drink…. not worth it at all!!! service is good but i’m coming to a sushi lounge/ bar for decent sushi and a bartender who knows drinks off the cuff

I've been going to the Sushi Lounge for years.....in their old location on Schuyler Pl. Was looking forward to the new location & have been there twice. My conclusion is they have ruined the Sushi Lounge I once knew! Here's the good: new place is very nice, much larger, with a large bar area (the best upgrade!). Food is very good & the vibe is cool.

Here's my beef: The food menu has been cut back drastically - though the sushi/sashimi selection is still good. Staff is new & inexperienced. We always enjoyed going there & having a cocktail or bottle of sake with our meal. The first time I went I ordered a 12 year old single malt scotch, got a measured pour, and the cost was $36!!! Same drink is $18-$22 at any other restaurant I've been to - & the best places don't use a measured pour. There is a drink menu but it does not include a list of spirits with the prices. I understand you pay more for a drink at a high end restaurant but $36 is a joke! I would have never ordered it if I saw the price on the menu. I was disappointed & aggravated.

I thought I'd give them a second chance (& just have sake). Unfortunately here are no more half bottles of cold sake available on the menu. We looked at the sake list and everything other that (2) selections were $90 or more!! (the other two were $60 & $72). So the booze prices have been jacked thru the roof! Food presentation was beautiful -- but completely unnecessary in my opinion if it's driving a price increase. It's as if in the new location on the main street they've gone high-end pretentious with the increased pricing to boot. Been going to the Sushi Lounge on a regular basis for all the years I've live in Morristown. Unfortunately I'm not sure I'll be...

Today I had a 6pm reservation for 5 at the Morristown location. Sushi lounge is one of my favorite sushi places in NJ, but I usually go to the Hoboken or Totowa location. I guarantee you that I will never show up to the Morristown location again. I arrived on time and appropriately acknowledged the "please wait to be seated" sign. The only thing is, the THREE waiters standing on the other side of the bar, 2 women and one man did not acknowledge me however they all made eye contact with me. None of them walked over to greet me or speak to me. I literally stood there by myself for over 5 mins looking at a pretty empty restaurant and the waiters standing there trying not to look at me and holding their own conversation. The Bartender didn't even speak to me. After a few minutes a couple walks in behind me and they were IMMEDIATELY greeted and given a table. At this point I am literally at a loss of words. I'm standing here as a business professional with a reservation for 5 with no one in the restaurant and it seems like the staff is looking directly through me. The Manager finally comes from the Kitchen and greets me and I give her my name and that I've made a reservation. I ask her if she is the manager and she advises that she is but by this point I'm totally turned off by the staff. She takes me to my table and I sit for a few minutes but I get up and leave because I've lost my appetite. This is the worst experience I've had and I truly feel that it...
