Very rude and unpleasant staff. My daughter and I had something to do in Morristown but we got there early so we decided to have a cup of coffee and sweet before our appointment. Upon arrival, we weren’t asked if we like to sit by a table or not so I just sat by the nearest table waiting for my daughter to order. While ordering, the individual taking the order made fun of my daughter’s accent which I thought it was very rude! She never asked her if this order was to go or to stay which is a normal thing to do. She just assumed that the order was to go and packed it as such. After our order of two cups of coffee and two very small cupcakes which cost us $20 without tip was ready, my daughter joined me by the table. A few minutes into this while drinking coffee, the same lady who took our order ( which I believe was one of the owners) approached us and with a very condescending tone of voice told me “ next time if you like to stay you need to tell me because we have dine in service” then she continued staring at us meaning leave now!!!! I hear another lady from behind the counter saying “ I am very uncomfortable with this”!! I told her that this is simply a misunderstanding. We quickly packed and left! I’m just wondering what happened to customer service! First of all you never asked us if this is to go or not and second they should have apologized for their mistake and brought us proper plates and utensils to use. Instead they basically threw us out.
Horrible customer service! I never leave a bad review for any business but I was extremely embarrassed and felt really bad and so did...
Read moreGot a 12" round 4 layer cake today that was supposed to feed 45+ people --- it didn't. Barely got 36 pieces and I had to cut pieces so thin they fell apart. The cake appearance was very disappointing. The cake was fine, (Chocolate with raspberry filling and butter cream frosting) tasty and the filling good but a little thin. The buttercream frosting was amateur. Hard, broke apart when cutting; big chunks fell off. Needless to say, the plates looked like a bunch of crumbs. I've made buttercream many times and the key is to continue whipping until light and smooth. This seemed thick and heavy. Plus, it was decorated with nonpareils which should never be on a cake as they crunch and are unpleasant to eat with a cake. Maybe on chocolate covered pretzels they're fine but not cake and sliver glitter (?). Multi colored sprinkles would have been a better choice as a decoration. The fondant Logo was, again, amateur. We understood the logo to be in fondant. What was done was a red triangle on a larger piece of white fondant in the middle of the cake and the product name piped on with gel (as well as some other writing). It was not inexpensive either. I have not purchased regular bakery items here so I have no comments about them. I would just never order any type of specialty...
Read moreI had not been back to the Artist Baker in several years as my job moved out of Morristown several years ago, but today after an appointment on South St., I stopped in for breakfast. As I had remembered, everything looked so scrumptious, I couldn't decide what to order and though I came to pick up a quick breakfast which might have led me to choose a scone or some delicious quiche, given it was my birthday, I chose what I really wanted --- a chocolate souffle cupcake. I asked the counter person if it needed to be heated since it was in the refrigerated case and she said they usually supply instructions for the microwave. Since I was headed straight to work (and it was my birthday afterall), she graciously decided to warm it for me. After walking out, purchase in hand, I headed to my car, where upon opening the container, I found warm bittersweet chocolate oozing from the top of the cake, with freshly whipped cream nestled against against it. Spoon in hand I dug into the warm cake and was reminded of why I love this place. Can't wait to return and hopefully it won't take me another two...
