My son loves engaging in activities which has him building or creating projects. Candle making was his favorite activity till we tried Glassworks a couple of weekends ago. Even bigger surprise for us was that my 2.5 year old toddler took to it like a pro!
We were walk-ins and the extremely friendly staff was able to accommodate us within the hour. It worked out for us because we had an easy and relaxing afternoon planned anyway. We were warned that working with glass might lead to accidental cuts. We were worried about my toddler but she has excellent motor skills and was able to complete her 'unicorn kit' quickly and easily. My son decided to go with a superman template and used crushed glass which he guided (with some parental help) using a brush. The studio has plenty of colors, style of glass, templates and shapes to choose from.
Because my toddler finished her project early, we looked around and browsed through all the art displayed throughout the studio. The whole place is a like a beautiful glass works museum! Remember to check out the bathrooms while you are here, you will not be disappointed! There was a birthday party in progress while we were there and it was adorable!
The studio asks you to leave your completed project behind for them to put it in the kiln to fuse your art work. The turn around time is a couple of weeks and they text you with pick up instructions. The kids were super excited to pick up their art, which they insisted on doing with us. Highly recommend GlassWorks for...
Read moreDate night at Glassworks was an absolute delight for my wife and me! Planning outings for her can be a real pane, considering her wide range of interests. Luckily I stumbled upon Glassworks.
The studio was buzzing with positive energy as other groups reveled in their glass adventures. Now, I confess, the abundance of options – project types, glass sizes, colors, shapes – left me feeling a bit overwhelmed. But fear not, my glassy-eyed concerns (sorry last glass pun 😏) were swiftly smoothed over by Sherri's calming voice and profound knowledge of the medium. She took us on a journey from blank canvas to masterpiece, patiently guiding us through the process.
With the freedom to let our creative juices flow, I found myself in a glass wonderland, weighing the virtues of opaque vs. transparent, small vs. large, and all the while soaking up inspiration from the studio's vibrant designs. While contemplating our projects, I found myself marveling at the plethora of glass options – opaque vs. transparent, small vs. large – and took a tour around the studio for some extra inspiration. Sherri, our glass whisperer, checked in frequently and even provided a few illuminating ideas when our creativity hit a snag.
Long story short, the workshop was a blast, and our handmade ornaments now proudly adorn our Christmas tree – just in time for the post-holiday packing hustle! 🤦🏾♂️😃 If you're up for a fun, slightly unconventional activity with a low barrier of entry, give glass art a try. You won't be...
Read moreIt's an experience. Wasn't what I expected though. You get there and have a variety of shapes and sizes to choose from which are priced accordingly. Ranging from $25 up. I chose a small vase that cost $66. You then choose the glass pieces you want to use in your piece. Arrange the colors and shapes the way you want and glue the pieces down. You have the option to choose smooth or bumpy for your finished product. I choose smooth. You are allowed 2 hours to make your creation. After you're done its mailed off somewhere to get fired up and shaped. The product arrives 1-2 weeks later, and we got ours back relatively quick. Less than one week. Upon arrival, I was disappointed to find that my piece wasn't as smooth as I wanted. It had some lumpy spots on it. I went back inside and was told that the vase is as flat as it will get. And told they can't take it back to be refired or flattened . Even though my design was based off of one of the existing vases on display and I didn't use a third level. I paid for the experience I guess, which was quite disappointing. Additionally I was under the impressions the block pieces would melt and meld to form a whimsical look. As you can see ut did not. I could have gone to a local place instead of driving almost an hour. Lesson learned I would not return. It still turned out cute at least. And the staff...
