I lived at this property for almost 3.5 years total. I moved in during the first summer of the pandemic and took a short term lease. During that time Justin & Caroline were in the office and I didn’t have any complaints about the property or the staff. They were pleasant and helpful. I liked it so much that I moved back in early 2022. Initially the property staff were fine but then they got a new leasing staff, Gianna. Then Justin, the manager, was hardly ever on property. The management of the property then seemed to be in Gianna’s hands. They would yes me to my face but then not fix the issue. They tell you what you want to hear when you have a maintenance issue and good luck from there. I had also tried to reach out to Greystar corporate when I was having issues because I was frustrated and I left messages but no one got back to me. Once Justin left, the new property manager, Tara, was hardly ever there. I’d leave voicemails and send emails to her that often went unanswered. If she did respond, it would often be weeks later. Here are just a few of the issues that my apartment had during my last 2.5+ years: Recurring mold. Not just in the bathroom but on the ceilings and walls of the bedroom, living area, and entry way. There was also mold in the heating/cooling unit. The first time I had the issue on the ceiling and wall, the property manager acknowledged it and “addressed” it by having their staff take care of it immediately. While this might sound ideal, proper mold removal doesn’t happen in a few hours. 6 months later, the mold came back and the new property manager, Tara, denied it was mold (even after I explained to her multiple times that I had mold in there prior and that I’m allergic to it) and said she had the company’s Regional Facilities Director look at it and they both said it was dust. At my insistence, they eventually (2 months later) had a third party come out, and they confirmed it was mold. The third party required me to be out of my apartment for 2 days while they removed the mold properly. There was a fire in the trash room on my floor and the alarms never went off! They didn’t try to evacuate us, or even alert us while it was going on. I found out about it the next day when I smelled smoke and saw the clean up begin and Justin emailed the community to let us know. That was the last straw for me. The windows are awful and you constantly feel a draft, so you will always need to have your AC or heater running. I spent more than a year trying to get them to fix or replace my washing machine because it kept shredding my clothes and there was a brown substance that kept appearing in the tub even after I cleaned it. Their solution was to use “washer magic”, which fixed nothing. It got so bad I stopped buying new clothes for it to ruin. It ruined several hundreds of dollars of my clothing. Several times during my time there, randomly, there would be dirt in my bathtub from plumbing issues. There were many plumbing issues there from backed up sinks in other apartments, which then affected mine, to flooding from above and also in the lounge area. Then there’s the unidentified charges in your resident account portal. I reached out to Tara to ask what they were, and I never got a response. After I moved out, Greystar is calling me saying that I owe them money. It turns out that they charged me a steep late fee for not paying those unidentified charges! I explained the above to the Greystar accounting department and they apparently don’t care that the property manager is MIA and that she doesn’t answer questions and doesn’t post the payments to your account in a timely manner. Only move here if you want constant headaches. I’d give this place -5 stars if I could. The only good thing I can say about this place in the last few years is that I rarely heard my neighbors above or next door. If you are looking at the “good” reviews you’ll notice that most of them are from a couple of years ago. Things are drastically different now. The staff has changed but the building itself is also...
Read moreI've been living at Chancery Square for 3 years now and I couldn't be happier with my stay. If you are looking for a place to live in Morristown, I highly recommend this location. For starters, I lived in another building on Elm Street before this, and I've toured all of the popular apartment buildings in town. I think I have a good feel for the living options that Morristown offers. The building is always clean and well maintained. It is safe and very comfortable. The location couldn't be better; we are a two minute walk from every restaurant/bar, yet we are hidden just enough so that the noise doesn't affect us. The Morristown train station is a 10 minute walk. We have a good gym and a very nice club room with flat screen tvs, a granite bar, and a pool table. Most importantly, the service is top notch. Erin, the building manager, does a fabulous job of running the place. You can walk in the office whenever you need to and she'll take care of everything for you. She is always happy and nice, you never get the impression that you are bothering her. The two maintenance guys, Jeff and Juan, are the best in the business. My apartment was well built, so I rarely need them for anything, but when I do, they are there immediately. After 3 years, my dryer finally had some issues a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned something to maintenance, and within two days I had a brand new washer and dryer in my apartment. I didn't even have to lift a finger. I wouldn't have stayed here for 3+ years if I wasn't extremely happy with my situation. The building is great and the staff is excellent, I couldn't...
Read moreI lived at Chancery Square for almost 3 years. While I was there Giana and Justin and the maintenance team were amazing! Giana was especially so kind and very responsive to any requests or questions we had. She was always available in the leasing office and was so friendly in asking us how we are and wanting to say hello to our dogs. She made Chancery feel like home. Right before we left Justin moved to a different property and Tara took over.
She instantly changed the entire vibe of the leasing office. Anytime I went in there she was very off putting and I could tell didn’t treat her team well. Since moving out I have also heard Giana has changed properties too and since then I have still have friends in the building that tell me the leasing office is always closed and they can never reach anyone.
I am extremely disappointed to say Tara has negatively impacted me twice. Once we almost lost our sublet because she didn’t bother to learn how to work the system and held the approval process up for over 2 weeks. Second our lender requested verification of rent payments to ultimately approval our loan and she has continuously not answered the phone or responded to emails. When she does eventually answer she says she will provide by end of the day and still has not done so. Chancery is a great building and location and has an amazing maintenance staff but if they don’t get Tara out of there I think they will continue to have unhappy residents/prior residents. If you are looking at this apartment I’d highly recommend but only if they have...
