Terrible Experience – Would Not Recommend- waste of money and unhealthy
I had a very disappointing experience with this restaurant. I ordered Pad Thai with shrimp and Drunken Noodles with shrimp, but instead received both dishes with uncooked chicken. I called the restaurant immediately, and the owner (Philip) said the kitchen was closed but promised to provide a fresh order the next day.
we tried to taste the dishes, but the chicken was still uncooked. The Pad Thai had a foul smell, and the Drunken Noodles were overly sticky and unappetizing. We didn’t eat the food and kept it refrigerated as proof for next day.
Next day ,When I called back to get the replacement as promised, the owner was extremely rude. He insisted on giving the same Pad Thai instead of a different dish of equal value and refused to refund me over the phone. He asked me to drive 30 minutes to return the uneaten food, only then offering a refund after inspecting it. He didn’t apologize once for the mistake.
To make things worse, I saw him handling the returned food in a way that made me fear it could be served to another customer. That’s completely unacceptable and raises serious food safety concerns.
Please be cautious—both the food quality and customer service were terrible. I do not recommend this place at all.
Response to Owner’s Reply – Clarifying the Facts
I'm disappointed—but not surprised—by the owner's response, which continues the same behavior I experienced: denial, deflection, and refusal to take responsibility.
Let me set the record straight with facts:
The Order Was Incorrect and Undercooked: I ordered Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles with shrimp. Instead, I received both with chicken, and the chicken was undercooked—which is a serious food safety issue. I called immediately, but the kitchen was closed, so the owner promised to replace the meal the next day.
Food Was Preserved as Proof: We didn’t eat the food because of how unsafe it seemed. It was refrigerated overnight, and I was fully prepared to return it the next day—as I eventually did, driving 30 minutes to do so.
Refusal to Replace with a Safe Alternative: The next day, I simply asked for any different dish of equal or lesser value (not necessarily the Crab Jungle Fried Rice, as claimed) because I no longer trusted the previous dish. Instead of showing empathy or concern, the owner was rude and dismissive, insisting on replacing it with the exact same order, which I clearly didn’t want for health reasons.
Refund Only After Confrontation: I was told to bring back the uneaten food just to prove my complaint was real. Only after I traveled back with the food did I receive a refund—no apology, just hostility.
Concerning Food Handling: What I saw during the visit—returned food not being discarded immediately—raised legitimate concerns. I sincerely hope my observation was incorrect, but any responsible restaurant should discard returned food on the spot to avoid any doubt.
I left this review to share my personal experience honestly. I have no interest in “free upgrades” or damaging anyone’s business. I simply expect what every paying customer does: the correct, properly cooked food and respectful service when something goes wrong.
To future customers: read both sides and judge for yourself. My review reflects exactly what happened—nothing more,...
Read moreOh, the heartache of losing my go-to Thai place inside H Mart! I became a total Yelp-stalker, praying for a glimmer of hope for an update. Lo and behold, Thai 54 rose like a phoenix from the ashes, and let me tell you, it's a authentic Thai place! Don't believe those ancient reviews, this place is a pure gem!
Their crab fried rice is pure happiness on a plate, and their papaya salad is like a flavor explosion in my mouth (I switch between Thai and Laos versions, depending on my mood - keeping life spicy, you know!). My husband's all about their drunken noodles, but he can't resist sneaking bites of my fried rice.
I wanted to gate-keep, but I can't help rooting for Thai 54 to shine in their new spot. They're the champion of authentic Thai food in the area! But hey, if you're into ketchup-infused pad Thai, there are plenty of other spots around.
One thing to note: when they say medium spicy, they're not playing games. It's Thai-level medium spicy, so buckle up for a wild ride or order accordingly
In a nutshell: If you crave top-notch Thai cuisine that'll knock your socks off, Thai 54 is where it's at. Get ready for a flavor explosion...
Read moreI tried this place for takeout for the first time about a month ago and really enjoyed the Pad Thai and green curry dish. However tonight, I got take out for the same dishes (veg pad Thai and tofu green curry) and unfortunately didn't have a great experience. First, they never put the order in over the phone. I arrived 20 minutes after placing the order and after waiting a few minutes finally figured out that they had just started making the food. When I asked again, they called it "printer error". I shrugged it off and waited another 10 minutes for the food. When I got home, I took out the food containers and the tofu, green curry container looked much smaller than the container I got last month. For $14 plus tax, it seemed overpriced. I called the restaurant to see if it was a mistake and texted a picture of the container but after calling back was told that it was no mistake. They said I must have gotten the larger curry container last time "by mistake". Maybe they have changed their container size recently, I don't know. I am disappointed in the service and overpriced food and despite the food tasting good, will not...
