Are you serious? Placed a reservation 2 days before my birthday. Asked for a window seat so myself and my guest could watch the view as others came by. I was so excited and my friend to eat at this restaurant. We had heard so many great reviews of this place and being local like to support local business. What a dismal, rude place. I was at the place 10 minutes before my reservation time. After maybe 5 minutes we were recognized by the hostess/ barkeep/server/ busser? and asked if we wanted a seat. Stated I had a reservation and provided name. Was asked if I preferred a high table or regular table. I advised person I had a reservation and specific window seat. She quickly brushed me off, went around the corner and came back and stated that someone had just been seated at my reserved table and they had ordered food. I was asked if I wanted to sit at the table where to go orders were at and many others to wait for my "reserved" table. My guest and I declined. After 20 minutes of waiting against a wall which had warnings to remain 6 feet apart and watching staff move into kitchen, behind bar, wipe tables and throw rag onto another table, serve food, go behind sushi bar and talk with those sort of making food all not wearing a mask or even referencing any health standards for a business. I decided it was time to leave. I stated to the hostess that I was cancelling reservation due to another being placed at table. She stated she understood and I asked her what she understood. She abruptly turned and went around the corner and told me that those sitting at my reserved table were eating Hibachi and had not paid. I dont know how the food can be good here or even safe. Have we become so used to garbage service that low grade service and being treated like you are an imposition because someone else is not doing their job is the norm...the accepted. Dont eat here. Cook at home or just wander across the street to the other restaurant. Their food was pretty good...but their service was excellent and the tip was well over 20%. Dont use the virus as an excuse. This place is...
Read moreKazoku has the best Japanese food in Mount Airy. There’s no denying that. However, about a month ago my husband and I went to their restaurant to eat. We were dining in. They told us it’d be an hour wait which we were fine with because of the coronavirus and we understood they had limited seating. We came back an hour later and watched the hostess go over to a table of her friends and tell them it was time for them to leave. The same group of people who were just sitting there talking when we came in to eat an hour before. It seemed to me that they were telling people it’d be an hour wait time to just see who would still want to come back while they let their friends sit and talk and take up seating for customers. Tonight I decided to just place an order online rather than dining in. When I got there to get my food, after waiting an hour like they said online, I was told they needed an extra 15 minutes. Okay, fine I thought, I drove around a little bit more and then went back. My food was ready and I got ready to leave but something told me to check the bag. I had paid an extra 75 cents for an extra cup of white sauce. So, I had to go back in and wait for them to give me my extra cup. Once I got home and was sitting down to eat (an hour and a half later) I realized they cooked my food wrong. I had ordered the chicken entree with mixed vegetables and spicy teriyaki. The vegetables were undercooked and the chicken was over cooked. And they put no teriyaki on anything. I was so disappointed, but at this point had spent so much time trying to get my food I didn’t bother to go back. I just feel like if I pay $14 for a plate of food they should get the order right. They have the best food. Yes. But poor service and incorrect orders makes them just as average as the other...
Read moreMy husband and I traveled to Virginia for our honeymoon, while in the area we decided we wanted some sushi. Food was wonderful, but you should get there the day before at lunch time to have your supper ready for the next night. Wasn’t a very large place and got busy very quickly. Didn’t understand why there were 4 females running one side that only had a small bar and 4 tables, and a male on the other side running the adult beverage bar as well as 4 tables, and answering the To go phone. Didn’t understand why there was a bus boy when the bar tender was cleaning the tables on his side. Took about 10 minutes to be seated and wasn’t even acknowledge when we went in. We were sat in a corner where I waited a while to even get a drink order. I kept telling my husband to stay calm because it must be extremely busy for such a small place. After getting our tea and water, we waited another 15 minutes to even order our food. While we waited we watched everyone order and receive there food and several tables leave. My husband ran out of tea and I had to ask the bartender when he got a chance if we could get refills, the one time he came over to let us know it would only be a few more minutes. The table sitting behind us had reservations at 6:30 pm ordered there food and within 15 minutes got there food.... BEFORE US. We waited a total hour and 20 minutes for just our food. Altogether we were here almost two hours. Very disappointed and although the food was amazing the whole experience ruined it, I will not...
