Decided to do a ‘theme night’ tonight with our 9 year old grandson who is staying the weekend with us from out of town. After hanging out at the house and completing a few chores, we thought we’d watch ‘The Loaded Goat’ Andy Griffith episode, then head into Mt. Airy and take him to the restaurant inspired by the episode and let him see the squad car, etc. … *He’s recently shown interest in learning the harmonica, too - so just in case there were any dynamite-laden goats that needed leading out of town, he was ready to save the day (& … get a t-shirt from TLG) … we’d already looked at them online. After a good meal with me and my wife splitting a salad and burger, I inquired about the t-shirts and if we needed to pay separately or as part of our bill. A staff member told us the two colors, he picked & she retrieved one, put it in a bag and delivered to our table. The bill was then adjusted to include the shirt. When the bill came back, it was $30 higher. I stopped a staff member and showed them it was available online for $20. I heard the manager tell them when they inquired that it was “an old site.” Two different staff members asked to see the site, we showed them and they said they needed to ask the manager/it was a question for her (understandably). The response delivered (from our server, not the manager who was standing 15 feet away): the site was run by the former owner & the new owner had set their price at $30. I let them know I would not be paying $10 more for the same shirt I could get for $20 and they would need to take it off the bill. Which they did. It was obvious the staff (which said they had never seen that/had anyone inquire about the website before) felt the manager would/should sell a $9-$10 shirt to a kid for $20 and move on. What I consider the issue: our grandson wanted (and would be wearing right now and for days to come) an article of advertising for the establishment his grandparents had just paid a more than ample bill for — in a bag, in his hands (ready to join the synapses and complete the memory … and the manager did not seem to be able to pause and consider the best outcome for the situation. It is certainly her/their prerogative to charge whatever she/the owner wants to for the food, service & goods they are offering. It was mine to write this review. At the very least, they could have thanked us for pointing out their url still reflects $20 and disable that link immediately. Our server still received the full tip I was planning on giving her (& a...

The restaurant itself is cute and cozy, seating is MINIMAL, so larger parties take up a lot of space and will also have a longer wait time due to lack of space. The decor is cute We happily waited down stairs near the door for about 45 mins because we had a party of 8. The menu is pretty limited, not a large variety or selection. Everyone ended up ordering burgers, they seemed to be the best choice and most varied item. Our server was amazing came over within mins of us sitting down, made sure our drinks were never empty, went over our order to make sure everything was right and was very attentive to all of her tables.
.... here's the bad. We ordered our food as soon as she came back with our drinks because we already knew what we wanted, after waiting 45 mins to be seated. Again a party of 8 everyone ordered burgers, sides were either fries, tots or S.P fries. It took over an hour for our food to come out. Which was pretty frustrating because there were other tables that had sat down and ordered well after us and got their food before our table. It also was not completely full, so it was puzzling as to why it took so long. The sweet potato fries, which are an upcharge, were all burnt. Not just a little over done, they were burnt, so much so that before the runner even left the table everyone who had them asked for a different side. Normally if it's just a couple I would pick them out and not fuss but if I am paying an upcharge and it's burnt for multiple plates, I can't not say something. We did get regular fries or tots very quickly and the server apologized and took the up charges off the ticket. The burgers across the table were just OK to everyone. They were all cooked well done, and we realized we weren't asked how we wanted them cooked. I'm pretty certain everyone in my family orderes medium to medium well but never well done. Everyone ate half or most of their burgers because at this point everyone was starving and didn't want to send anything back to wait even longer. So again overall just okay. I don't think we would go back when we make the trip up...
Read moreWent in for lunch after church ! We were the 3rd customers sat ! It took 10 min for a waitress to even acknowledge we were there ! We finials got a water and a Dr.pepper, then placed our order! After 55 min of waiting and watching 4 tables eat and leave , and all others in the Resturant eating , we noticed our waitress started ignoring us ! Not even I’m sorry we forgot your order , not even a refill on drinks ! It was if we never existed , they were more involved with serving their beer , and keeping those glasses full ! Not say we had had enough so we got up to leave after the last blowoff by our waitress and all she did was look at us not trying to make things right , or even stop us to say they were wrong and sorry for their mistake ! Sad Mt.Airy has an eating establishment who cares more about pushing alcohol at lunch on a Sunday and letting customers sit for an hour with not even an apology ! I’m sure if management reads this they will probably laugh and blow it off just as they did us ! BEWARE ! I would have give a 0 rating , but to post a comment you’ve at least got to give a one star ! They didn’t even...
