Visited here on my visit to the Andy Griffith Museum. Very very neat theater. Very nostalgic. Seating is so much smaller by today's standard (Cause the people back in the old days were much smaller). The local tour guide was extremely knowledgeable on his local history facts and told me all about the history of the Earle Theatre & they even have a video upstairs on a tv to watch and learn about all the history of the local music culture. They even do live performances on Thursday's of bluegrass/folk music here on local am radio on the stage and the original live sign still lights up and let's you know when they are live on air. Such a one of a kind experience and glad they still allow people to go back in time by stepping into this place. Just to think about all the highschool sweethearts and people that went here for entertainment when it was a regular operating theatre that's either old or passed on now that sat in those very same places really gives you a one of a kind appreciation for the past. I definitely recommend you visit this place...
Read moreAttended with my wife, kids, and mother to see Lyle Lyle Crocodile. Theater is historic so its a bit smaller and offers less than your average theater. However, the smaller crowd is a significant draw to enjoying a show here. They offer events other than movie showings and displayed date listings on the front of the building. The movie played without any video or audio issues and id gladly visit again. I only rated at 4 stars simply because of the attendants off putting demeanor. It was exactly unfriendly but i didnt feel welcomed either. I hope the gentleman was only...
Read moreTo me the Earle is not quite up to the level of the downtown Elkin theater in terms of restoration, but it's great that this historic movie house gem was saved and remains in very busy use. You can easily imagine a teenage Andy Griffith sitting down front to to enjoy a Gene Autry picture. The balcony seating is a little confusing, as we could not find seat numbers in the dim light upstairs. Only other complaint was that we arrived maybe 5-10 minutes before the show and the concessions kid was just firing up the...
