Many of my acquaintances and I go out to eat brunch or lunch after Sunday morning church services and often look for a new location to eat, therefore since I was on my own this weekend since I am in writing quarantine in order to complete my current book, I decided to visit a new franchise (atleast to us here in the northwest piedmont area) for a brunch so I went to Rusty Rooster in Mt. Airy to try the restaurant, its food, its personnel and rate it overall. Let me start by saying that my assessment may be perceived by many of my friends as harsh, but I feel that my responsibility is to give my friends “real thoughts and opinions” to help them make choices in their lives. Rusty Rooster promotes that they have the best menu in town, and yet their menu is not significantly different than the selection at many other local restaurants, so on the Selection I give them an average, a (5). The food I ordered and ate was good !, not great but good (meat lovers omelet did not have a significant amount of meat(s) in it and no chunks and very little actual cheese in it, but I was tempted to give them a 7.5 for food but the delivery of the food took so long that it detracted from the score and I gave them an average, a 5! The welcoming staff were incredible friendly, in spite of the parking lot being slammed, and my waiter (Owen) a very pleasant young man was excellent, quick on my coffee refills, so I give them an above average, an 8 for service. However considering the fact that I drove twenty five (25) minutes away from several similarly good restaurants in King and nearby Rural Hall, just to be rewarded with average food and selection resuls in my overall rating of 5.75! not bad, no black marks but simply just...
Read moreOur first visit here a while back was subpar, but I held off on giving a review and graded on a curve due to the fact that it was shortly after our benevolent governor allowed businesses to reopen post plandemic and they were severely short staffed. That is no longer the case, this visit today, 7/23/22, was disappointing. Wife and I both ordered the southern eggs Benedict with home fries. When the food came out, everything was cold. I'm not sure if it sat to long before making its way to our table, or if things were pre-cooked and assembled. I sent it back, and when the replacement showed up the eggs Benedict itself was fresh thankfully, and was actually very good, but I guess the home fries get done in batches and they don't seem to have effective means to keep them at a good temp prior to serving because they were marginally warmer than the first batch they brought out. Overall, I'd give them 2 and a half stars but that's not a option so the 3rd star is solely based on the fact that the replacement, minus the home fries, were fresh and...
Read moreMy first and last visit was just terrible. The wait was around 20-25 minutes because every other booth is still kept empty like it's 2020. Three of the items in our order were wrong. The waitress didn't seem to care or know what to do. The staff i came into contact with all seemed like kids who haven't seen any experience in customer service, food, or common sense. The deal breaker: My ham had a mossy green mold on it (or something that looks a lot like mold). I added the picture. I ordered nothing mold colored. All the food was fairly disappointing. If you're near Mount Airy, the Copper Pot, Aunt Beas, Snappy's, or The Hungry Farmer in Cana are good options. Waffle Hoise is even higher quality. I had high hopes because new places usually shine, but this is the worst breakfast in Surry county. The look of disappointment and confusion was also on the faces of the customers sitting at the other two tables I could see...
