I recently had a baby on Monday, and let me tell you, the staff on the OB floor are absolutely AMAZING. I could not have asked for a better team of hardworking nurses to look after me and my family. Alex went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. ❤️ She always made us feel comfortable, and aware of every next step in the process. My entire family that came to visit, had nothing but nice and amazing things to say about her. Every single person made me feel right at home & like I could ask them for anything. (Olivia, Sarah, Kallie, Nikita, & Anna) they are amazing women!!! I had my first child here 6 years ago & it was great then, but now, it’s even more amazing. I learned so much this time around, due to the amazing staff! The OB doctors at northern are always amazing! Doctor Gentry is such a great doctor! He came back to check on us twice after having the baby. He has always been so kind and professional. I would recommend anybody to him! All the doctors at Northern OB are super special people! I am sad that this is the last time I will be having a baby, but I am so blessed to have had such an amazing team of health care professionals to be there for me every step of the way. 10/10 would refer all my pregnant friends to Northern OB & Northern Regional for delivery.
I would like to add that the one negative highlight would be the night doctor whose name is Hartzog. He was the biggest disappointment from the whole experience. I won’t change the rating due to the rest of the staff and doctors. I do not believe, matter of fact, I know, that his behavior and professionalism does NOT REFLECT the AMAZING care from the nursing staff. (Those ladies are truly angels on earth) 1st: He told me I wasn’t allowed to give my child a bath at home and I would prefer that he gave my baby a bath. 2nd: He also drug tested my baby because my child was “shaking” (from being cold btw, he would only shake after the doctor took his clothes off to examine him.) of course the results were that my baby wasn’t on drugs because I don’t use drugs! I only take the medications that are prescribed to me by my doctors. He was rude & I wouldn’t recommend anybody to him. I do hope that they replace him so he doesn’t do that to any...
Read moreYou will find better healthcare elsewhere. Two stars bcs of the one good nurse and dr I had, otherwise would be 0-1 stars.Unless it's for a broken bone, or something else, don't come here to the "bandaid ER". They shouldn't even be considered an er. Their capabilities range to that more of an advanced urgent care. I have been to Northern Regional Hospital before in Mount Airy NC on a couple of ocassions. Normally I do not comment on medical providers or healthcare facilities bcs I have worked in healthcare and done first responder work for 10 years to include EMS, Fire and SAR work. I also understand burnout. However, I see the neccessity now.
Northern Regional Hospital Staff in Mount Airy NC for the most part is rude, can be abrasive at times, and is hit or miss for the care team. Some of the drs (who are clearly experiencing burnout) see you as a "number" vs a patient. One instance where I had an amazing NP. Other than that, horrible. Diagnosis were given that could not be given without a proper EEG Nuero study. This level of care is unacceptable and could result in malpractice to an extent. Do better Northern.
You refused to transfer me to another hopspital capable of having proper nuero care, to leave me hanging to find other options ($200+ out of pocket to get adequate care while slightly altered). You said it was essential I see a nuero and eeg study within 2-3 days. Unrealistic expectations considering the state of nuero care across the country rn. Most are booked out for.months. even with a referral.
In addition, (and I understand there is a triage process), refused to process me quickly when I had a migraine continually for two days including sound and photosensitivity reaching status migranus (with associatednaseua) Front desk staff refused to get me a blanket (mind you there were multiple staff at front desk). This made my migraine worse. I eventually amad and worked itself out painfully after hours of waiting for care. I hope northern reaches out at corporate level for more input or feedback as to where they...
Read moreThis was my third visit to this hospital. Each visit was for kidney stones. The first one, I was able to pass on my own. However I came in Monday with a kidney stone that I had been fighting for 13 days. But it simply would not pass. I checked into the hospital around 11am in the ER. They ran an ultrasound and discovered the fluid was backing up into my kidneys. They quickly made the decision that I would need surgery to put a stent in. Around 5 o’clock that evening they moved me to a room on the surgical floor and began the processes to get me prepared. I had surgery the next morning at 7 AM. My surgeon, Dr.Lee went over everything with me including the risks of surgery, what he was going to be doing, what that process would look like, and answered all of my questions. He called my mom after surgery to let her know that everything went well and explained to her everything what they did. He was able to break up the stone and get it out and place a stent in. The operating room team put my mind at ease as I was so scared. This was only my 2nd surgery ever.
I can’t speak enough to how thankful I am for the doctors, nurses, CNA’s and other staff who helped me through this very painful time. Thank you to Evelyn who listened to me ramble while the pain meds made me feel a little loopy. Thank you to Jammie, my CNA who listened to me cry hysterically after I came back from surgery. She helped me get dressed, helped me go to the bathroom and so much more. I don’t remember all of my other nurses names but I am so thankful for them.
They made sure my pain was managed well, they brought me snacks and meals and water and even my daily medication’s so that I did not miss those.
It can be very scary to have surgery when your parents are so far, but I always felt completely safe. Thank you to everyone!
Your hard work and passion for what you do doesn’t go...
