I ordered a sirloin steak with a baked sweet potato, a side salad and hash brown casserole. I also requested a gallon of sweet tea and six extra biscuits. I placed my order with Door Dash over an hour ahead of closing time. I noted after half an hour that the Door Dash driver was waiting and had been at the store for several minutes. After an hour with the driver waiting at the store most of that time, she arrived at my door. She said they were closing and had poured the sweet tea out before they prepared my gallon (again ordered at least an hour before closing), they had been out of baked sweet potatoes all day. No call was made to me from the store with this information or to offer a substitute. The steak was a very small piece of meat and, while appeared to be cooked correctly, was cold and hard. The onions I'd requested were there but tasted like liver (like they were cooked with liver and onions and scraped off to the top of my steak). I hate liver so just took the onions off and threw them in the trash. The hashbrown casserole was also cold. I am still not sure what happened to the salad. It was not mentioned by the driver and was not in the bag with the rest of the food. So I guess that was not available either. I was supposed to get two biscuits with my meal and ordered six extra to take to my brother's for breakfast tomorrow morning. So there should have been a grand total of 8 biscuits. There were only only six in the side order box. So that was also messed up. I spent $40 on this meal, and only received a quarter of it, which was cold and hard. The manager told the driver he would try to refund my money for the missing items but did not send me a receipt with what I should be charged for and how much of a refund I should expect. As far as I'm concerned, the entire order should be refunded. The tea, a potato, a side salad and two biscuits weren't received at all. What I did get was inedible. I will wait to see if I'm refunded anything. I ate a biscuit and put the rest on the refrigerator. I'm very much put off eating the food I did receive as it is so poorly presented and cold. I suppose I'll go to bed hungry tonight. What a disappointment!!! On top of all of that, the driver said the entire time she had been waiting, there were three tables of eating patrons, one family came in after she got there. They ate, paid for their food and left while she waited. So being busy is not an excuse. There really is no excuse for serving anyone the quality I was served and providing the poor customer service I was exposed to. It'll be a while before I trust the Mount Airy Cracker...
Read moreCracker barrel located off of 601 in Mount airy North Carolina right beside of McDonald's. The store overall is always clean, the bathroom is almost always clean every time I've been in. The tables in the restaurants are almost always clean for the most part, but their tables are too close together at times.
I don't have a problem with the decor, feels pretty country to me, but the biggest problem that I have is their prices on some items, but overall their proportions to their prices. I only came back this location because it was freebecause of another family member as gift cards otherwise I would not have. I ordered the chicken tenders, carrots okra and biscuits, their prices were 10.69 which to me is still expensive. However, when the waitress brought the foodover, there was only for very small pieces of chicken that look like you should give that to a very small child to eat not a grown adult.
the amount of chicken that was given might be good enough for a small dog or cat to eat, I've been a problem with her taste their food it's always been good, the biggest problem besides the price of proportions is the service.
Sometimes you get really good wait staff and thensometimes you get wait staff that just don't do their jobs well and this is another time they didn't do their job that well. She was nice and polite but didn't really come back around very often and with 5 or more people waiting the tip doesn't increase just because of the number.
They do not have a gluten-free menuwhen there's no point and really ask him because most of the people that you say something to look at you the deer-in-the-headlights look anyway or they started frowning like you just irritated them. Read moreWe visited this restaurant at 930 pm last week .The first 3 things we ordered they didnt have. Meat loaf, Chicken or Chicken pot pie. I ordered the breakfast platter and when the waitress brought it out, she said, "There is no grits , there to old to serve. SO I said can you just take them off the bill. She said no because I was getting them free with the platter lol. Nothing is free. My wifes food was cold . At this point I ask for the manager. She only went and warmed up a plate and brught it out. Brought me grits out that where like water and then cold. Would even melt butte. But the dangerous thing they did was this and I was out raged. A mother had 3 kids. She was with her mother that you could tell had had a stroke or something . So she goes outside to take 2 kids out . They had locked the door to close. I see the mother frankic at the window . The grandmother was arguing for them to let the mom back in becuase she grandmother couldnt carry the baby that was in a high chair and trying ti get out. They told the family it was poloicy to not let anyone back in after the door was locked. So the grandmoter ask me , with covid going on to carry the baby out. I did and was really ferouis with the staff. Even one wait staff was telling the woman at the front ,she had to let the mother in to get her baby . I confronted the staff and they told me the same thing .. They wouldnt let the mom in . My wife has cancer and we drove about 25 miles to eat there . My wife did not need to be exposedto covid . Not saying the baby or family had it but, we never know. We was not going to let this franic mother not get to her baby . They need lots of training at this resturant.
