Zito Greek Kitchen — Restaurant in Mount Airy

My mother and I looked online and it said; they were open. This was at three thirty in the afternoon. When we got there, there was a sign in the front that says they're closed until 5 o'clock. So we came back at five o'clock and there was maybe six tables taken. Not very busy. We were asked what we wanted to drink. They did bring us our brushette with in 15 minutes.We waited over an hour to have our entre order taken. Even though the girl was walking back and forth past us several times. Then the girl disappeared and we didn't see her. So I went up and told the cashier that we're ready to have our order taken. Meanwhile, several people showed up after us had their drinks and their orders taken within 30 minutes,by another girl who was working the counter and tables.We on the other hand had to wait over an hour and a half for them to take our order and then wait another hour for our food.When everybody else who showed up after us got their food and drinks within one hour of them being there. Then when they finally bring us our food. Only half the order is wright. How can you get 2 gyros with french fries wrong. Instead of french fries they brought us burnt onion rings. And then 20 minutes after that, bring us another tray of bruschetta, saying here's you're buschetta and I said you've already gave it to us. She's like, oh, it's okay, just take this one and I said I'm not paying for that. She said don't worry about it. And then fifteen minutes after that brings us burnt french fries. We didn't get to leave there till eight o'clock.I know they've only been open for a couple of weeks but they really need to get their act together. My fiancé and I were on the hunt for the perfect spot to host our wedding rehearsal dinner after our other catering company ditched us, and Zito's Greek Kitchen turned out to be an absolute gem. From the moment we contacted Victoria, the owner, she was incredibly accommodating and made the entire process seamless—even on such short notice. Her warmth and professionalism made planning a breeze, and she truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right.

Upon arriving, we were greeted by a friendly, attentive staff that made us feel right at home. The food was nothing short of delicious. We started with their Greek salad—fresh, crisp, and bursting with vibrant flavors. For mains, the falafel was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the gyro was generously seasoned and flavorful. The lemon potatoes were a standout—tender, zesty, and seasoned to perfection—complemented beautifully by their fluffy rice.

The dessert selection at Zito's is fantastic, offering a variety of sweet treats that beautifully cap off the meal. We enjoyed a few, and each was delightful—an excellent way to end our dining experience.

So I showed up at 11am. I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki Plate. Was told it would be ready in 10-15 mins. I walked outside and waited in my vehicle. I was back in after 20 mins and I’m told it will be another 5-10 mins, which turned into about 15 more mins. My order finally gets ready. I open my to go box and check my order after waiting 40-45 mins for it to get ready. Inside of my to go box is one chicken kabob (chicken was not good at all, bland with no seasoning), a potato, and sauce, and a salad….NO RICE. I asked why I didn’t receive any rice with my order. One person told me that THEY ARE OUT OF RICE. Another person says that it will be another 15-20 mins before rice is ready (Mind you I am the first customer of the day). I asked if I could have a refund and then ANOTHER person came up front and asked me WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I told them that like I’ve already said I didn’t receive all of my order (RICE) and I’ve already been waiting for 40 mins now. No one seemed like they wanted to help me so I just took the food and left. Feels like I just donated $16 to this establishment. Food was not good at all. Ended up throwing most of it away.
