Gumbo's — Restaurant in Mount Clemens

Just go... Buy food .. eat it...

I ordered way more food than I can eat just because I wanted to try it.

I ordered some voodoo fingers, or fried catfish with a nice dipping sauce oh my goodness.

I also ordered a side of mac and cheese. This was really spicy nicely in the roux they used to make this. for the most part I eat any mac and cheese, but this is special.

I'm often not happy with red beans and rice (because boring), but I really enjoyed these a lot. Just the right amount of sausage. Just the right amount of spices; yummy.

My favorite might have been the shrimp and crawfish etouffee, well, ignoring the voodoo fingers mentioned above.

The jambalaya was good well done

It is really difficult, in my opinion, to make a very moist cornbread. Well, their cornbread is perfect. I considered taking a bunch back with me.

No I didn't finish all the food I bought, everything was so well done I just had to try the bread pudding with some ice cream on it. Wow seriously good.

Let's talk about the staff. They talked me through everything, they were so helpful.

If I am ever in the area again, for sure I will stop in this food is amazing.

I didn't really feel like anything was spicy, but, as my wife would point out, I think things are mild that other people think are spicy. So, maybe I missed it and something there was supposed to be spicy, but to me nothing was. They do however have some tasty hot sauces sitting on the table if you want to make them spicier than they come out. Oddly, I enjoyed the food so much I didn't even think to add the hot sauce. Imagine that, I didn't reach for hot sauce when I had it available I was enjoying my food so much.

So one more time, do not miss this place. You need to come and try their food. Just go buy...

Never been here and it's a first in my Clements for me. I can honestly say. I tried the half a sandwich n bowl meal. I grabbed a catfish sandwich with the Cajun Alfredo 🤤. But I'm a chef and one of my favorite positions in the kitchen is sautier.(SAUCE MAKER) I DO NOT LIKE RUNNY SAUCE THAT DOESNT STICK. So I politely sent it back as a nawl then I tried the gumbo same thing. Runny n I swore gumbo was supposed to be stew like so a little loose like soup wasn't a big deal until I tasted what I assume is too much chilli powder. But the sandwhich was supposed to o be po boy style.... Which means slaw, and a fish.. but it came Americanized with tomatos,pickles, and lettuce....NOOOOOO it made my fish so wet I hated it it kept sliding off the bun. I asked if it was catfish cause to me it tasted like perch or snapper with the texture but it could've just been the wetness. People race about this place but I as a first timer wouldn't go back but that's also the chef in me. This was also the first place that even acknowledged me when I walked in..
