Definitely not the YaYa’s business we went to 20 years ago downstate. We decided to stop here to enjoy what we remembered. However, no chicken was being grilled, and the pieces we got were tough and lukewarm. The wing was burnt to ashes. The salad was just bagged iceberg, and they had a sign that said if you wanted cucumbers or tomatoes or onions, it was $.50 more PER item! The salad dressing tasted like “bottled store” bought dressing; not like it used to be in Royal Oak and Sterling Heights locations years ago. The only part that tasted good were the baked beans and the pita bread with the honey butter. But even the honey butter didn’t taste as honey sweet as it used to years ago. We didn’t feel welcomed because when we walked in all the chairs were tipped up on the tables, and they only left three booths open to choose from to sit in. Making it feel like it was about to close when it wasn’t....
Read moreThis is not remotely close to how Ya Ya's operated, treated customers and most importantly kept freshly flame broiled chicken as well as side dishes back in 2002. I always patronized the Corunna road location and the food was always delicious. I will never do such a disservice to myself by giving the Dort Hwy location one more minute of my time, money or utter disappointment. I can honestly say the times I have given them a chance their chicken was obviously past the staging time. (waste) The other times very few side dishes to choose from and the most ridiculous issue is when a chicken restaurant tells you they do not have chicken! This has happened on more than one occasion. I have made it my mission to tell everyone I know about how awful and what a gamble it is to spend any money at the Dort Hwy location. Let me add that this type of service and quality of food was way before they can use the...
Read moreI'm giving them 2 stars ONLY because they gave the extra piece of chicken. We ordered a 4 piece dark meal, with veggies and rice. Also, added 3 extra pita breads and butter to our to go order. When we got home, we were in disbelief at how tiny the chicken was! They put an extra leg in, I assume to make up for the disappointment of what we had. I am sad to say, I will NEVER return here again. The chicken was dried out but looked good on the outside. How? The pita bread was ok, hard but could salvage the inside. The sides were the best part. In the 90's and early 00's YaYa's was fantastic at this location. I'd love stopping in for a meal and the homemade honey butter and soft pita bread, but those days are long gone. I wish we could keep these companies going, instead of seeing empty buildings but I have a feeling if this is the product they are putting out, it won't be long before their doors are...
