Gorky's Smokin Grill — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant

Ordered takeout over the phone on a Sunday night an hour before closing and that all went smoothly. Staff were friendly and attentive. Full rack of ribs was very generous, very meaty and tender, without being too tender ($28). The sauce seemed to have been added at the end and wasn't really 'integrated' with the ribs, but that was OK with me. Also ordered a half-pound of brisket ($12) and was disappointed. It was basically water boiled, which was absolutely not what I think of as BBQ or how I like it. Not sure if it was a one-off or misunderstanding on my end. Ended up adding it to oxtail soup I had left over from a Taiwanese restaurant earlier in day, which rescued the brisket from being binned. I realized once I stepped inside to pick up the order that I had been here once before ~5+ years ago. My family and I had high expectations for this place, it’s not even worthy of a review but here it goes. For one the service sucked, we walked and waited to even be seated and after we sat it still took 30 mins before we even got drinks. We ordered smoked ham with veggies and glazed yams. The ham was not smoked the gorky sauce was cold spicy ketchup the veggies tasted like they sat in someone’s bath water minus the body flavor. Which would of been a good kick for some flavor. The atmosphere was was very awkward and unwelcoming. I’m sure if you look at your cameras you can see we weren’t happy and left all our food on the plate. The black curly haired waitress is extremely rude and disrespectful. I complained about a pulled chicken sandwich not tasting good and the cornbread being undercooked she insisted there was nothing wrong with it, took it away, but made us pay for it anyways. When I asked why we had to pay for something I didn't eat or get to take home, she said "you ordered it, you have to pay for it, it's the law." When I said the cornbread was undercooked again she said "that's fine" and then before we left she said "You're probably only used to McDonalds chicken so you didn't like ours." I have nothing good to say about the food or customer service. I haven't had food that gross in a long time. I left feeling like I was going to puke from the food and service.
