Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant

The frozen custard is very good. However, the customer service is not. The past two times I was there, a few of the employees just stood around while one person helped the customers. It seems that the owner/manager has not trained the employees on how to deal with an influx of customers.

If you have two employees upfront and a crowd walks in, they should both be helping the customers. However, both times I was there, only one person was helping customers with something like six people in line. The other employee did not great the customers. She was just tidying up the place. It was extremely irritating. She should have asked the the group ahead of me was together. (They were.) She could have left them to be helped by the other person and then helped me. Or...even better, she should have helped her colleague get the group in front of me taken care of quickly so that I could then get my order taken. Instead both employees just stood there like deer in the headlights.

I recommend the product, but plan on having quite a wait if anyone is ahead of...

I was SO excited to see a Rita's back in the Charleston area! My family and I LOVE Rita's and have missed it terribly since the other locations closed several years ago. We drove over 45 minutes from North Charleston to not be greeted, not be given a half sincere "what do you want?" and to have my disabled son given dirty looks when his hand grazed that of the employee's when asked for a sample of a flavor. I am appalled that there is still an issue with inclusion in 2023, especially with a business. We left happy with our Rita's flavors but very sad and let down in EVERY other aspect. The team certainly needs much more training and a huge lesson in customer service. First impressions are so important and everlasting. Wasn’t impressed. Its okay. Ended up throwing the custard out. It has a consistency of aerated foam to me & was not creamy whatsoever. Tasted like heavy whipping cream.

Thanked the cashier and she didn’t say a word to me because I didn’t tip. That’s because I really did feel like we over payed for what we got.

Not sure why one cup is the same cup used for kiddie, small, and large sizes. The large looks tiny and the kiddie cup is half filled (which my kids were upset about) There really needs to be appropriate sizes.

I asked the man behind the counter “is this really a large?” and he confirmed yes but didn’t seem too happy about his answer 🥴
