SOO BAD!!!🤮👎🏼. Edit 3: I am thinking, a year later… how utterly bad this restaurant food is. Let me just repeat the last line of my original review: “The best thing was the complementary glass of Mount Shasta tapwater…. do I make myself clear?! “ The locals told me they have not such a nice pun on the name. Edit number two. OK it’s been three months and I still remembered just how incredibly disappointing this restaurant was. I’m not trying to be a hater. I really wish them well. But they’ve got to major league up level in order to not get the bad reviews because honestly, it was really the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Next edit:I’m coming back three weeks after being there to update my review. The place was so disappointing, we’re still thinking about it a month - three months! - later. Here’s my original review. Food so mediocre and poorly prepared, we will never return. (Edit: food so bad, I want my money back. Heck, I want my hour back! I want to be generous, the owner seem like a nice man with a nice smile. but the food is just a BIG NO. Really poor Pad Thai, undercooked noodles, way too salty / a common compmentvon reviews here. We ordered eggplant and it was so undercooked that the eggplant was almost chewy raw. We asked them to bring it back to the kitchen to cook some more, and they returned it even more salty than it would have been before. in mediocre brown sauce none of the tangy sweet-and-sour sort of goodness I come to expect with Thai eggplant. This food was not prepared with a lot of attention to detail and care. Over saltiness is often a substitute for lack of ability to really develop flavors. The holy basil in the eggplant dish was very minimal skimpy. There’s just no excuse for food that bad. We talked to some people , working in the local gas station they said every local in town knows how bad this place is. They have a nickname for this place and it has to do with the name of the restaurant and it’s not very polite so I won’t repeat it. But the locals don’t eat here. I’m really sorry to have to leave such a bad review, I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings, but really, this was bad. The portions were not that big either. I have eaten a lot of Asian food, having lived in San Francisco area and knowing Asian-American people who know the food and cooking and culture. I don’t mean to be hyper critical, but there’s just no excuse for food this mediocre. The best thing was the complementary glass of Mount Shasta tapwater…. do I make...
Read moreWhen it comes to Thai food, I definitely don't mess around because I love Thai food. On Christmas Day, me and my girlfriend decided to get Thai food, and since the other Thai restaurant was closed, we've decided to try out this place. Luckily they were open and able to do to go orders. We order our food alongside our drinks, and my girlfriend's dad was able to pickup our food for us since he was just passing that way and our vehicles weren't able to make the drive due to the snowstorm. So we get our food, just to find out that there were no drinks in there and we look at the receipt, and noticed that we were still charged for them, I mean luckily we were able to get reimbursed for them, but once we tried our food, literally it was so bland to the point where I felt vegan. The combination fried rice I ordered felt like there were no seasoning on there or any special sauces in there that makes a fried rice. It felt like I could taste the sadness in whoever the cook was that was making the fried rice. My girlfriend ordered the drunken noodles and they definitely did not have any flavor at all going on in there. It looked like the noodles were soaked in some brown food coloring because you just could not taste any flavoring going on there. It was a real bummer. All in all, it wasn't nowhere near the best Thai food I've...
Read moreThis is my regular go-to place when I dine out in Mt. Shasta. I have resided here for 12 years, and it was really wonderful when Phuket opened up when it did several years ago. As a vegan, I've found most restaurants in the area have a few vegan options, but those options don't have the depth of flavor and creativity of the non-vegan dishes. Phuket is the exception - they do both regular Thai (which includes fish sauce as a primary component), and vegan dishes, REALLY well!! They even have two separate menus - the regular menu, and the Vegan Menu, which includes ALL of the dishes, vegan-style. Everything I have ordered on the vegan menu is rich with flavor, made fresh to order and delicious!! I love this family-run restaurant and hope they continue a long time in...
