I've come to denny's many times, and their service has always been mediocre...But tonight...It was the worst service I have ever had. Let me start from the very beginning..When my friend and I first walked into the restaurant we waited to be sat/greeted for about 15 minutes. When we finally were sat, there was water dripping from the ceiling onto our heads and table. We asked to move to another table and the manager simply said "Yes of course, pick any table you would like" so we looked around but there wasn't any tables clean....we just sat at a "not so dirty table". A server came and got our drink order in 5 to 10 minutes (not a friendly server). My friend ordered a sweet tea with lemon - The server brought us our drinks, but unfortunately there was a dead fly/nat on the lemon. We told our server and asked for a new sweet tea...the server said, "oh okay",grabbed the drink, took it back to the kitchen, dumped it out and filled it with sweet tea again.(We could see into the kitchen from where we were sitting) She didn't apologize or get a new glass. The food arrived at a decent time, but once our food was delivered the server never came back to check on us. We finished our food and had been done for about 15 minutes till we got our check which was delivered by a different server who didn't even ask if we were finished, if it was good,if we needed a box, or dessert. We looked at the check and the Sweet tea was still on there..we tried asking the server that brought us our check if it could be taken off, but she was gone before we could even finish our sentence. Finally, we got up to go pay for our meals and my friend brought the sweet tea incident up to the manager and asked if she could take it off the bill, the manager said "Yes" as she giggled. As we were walking to our car, our original server jumped out of a red vehicle as if she was gone the whole time we were eating. (That's why she never came and checked on us). I will not be going back to denny's for a long time. Poor service and apparently isn't very sanitary. Deserves less...
Read moreWalked in and there were 6 different people standing at front counter, one was waiting on a carry out, 2 were waiting to pay, and 3 waiting to be seated. They were not that busy, 3 servers with 8 occupied tables We waited at least 10 minutes to be acknowledged, another 5 minutes to be seated. Restaurant appeared clean, no issue there I ordered a GS, the pancakes were good, the sausage & eggs were okay - standard fare, but I also ordered 1 biscuit & gravy. I was brought 2 and charged for 2 The biscuits were hard as a rock, I thought my fork was going to bend. Not only did I pay full price for 3 day old biscuits, but was brought and charged double. I had to check my teeth to make sure they didn't get all chipped up, the less than spectacular gravy didn't do much to moisten then. Them biscuits were hard AF. And dry. But it gets worse, I also got hash browns which truly were the absolute worst I've ever had. I've had them overcooked, undercooked, mushy, crunchy, and screwed up every way possible, but this Mt Vernon Illinois Denny's somehow managed to make them unpalatable. I honestly would've preferred them still frozen straight out the bag. They appeared to have been cooked yesterday in week old oil, and recooked again about 2 hours before I ordered them. No flavor whatsoever aside from the stagnate grease these hash browns appeared to have been cooked in, recooked, and then re-recooked. It was gross. By far, the absolute worst hash browns I've ever had. And to add insult to injury, my girlfriend also ordered hash browns and hers were white, undercooked & also flavorless. I got the old stuff, she got a new batch and neither was cooked properly
Anyway, avoid this location. The service wasn't great, was charged for an item I didn't order, the biscuits were hard AF, and whoever cooks their hash browns has no business in the...
Read moreIf you go to this establishment be sure to steer clear of Debra. She is what you call a Karen server! She is totally disrespectful and rude. Being a truck driver myself looking for hospitality at any establishment I enter is key. As we don’t interact with many people to often. But back to Debrah. She made us wait 15 minutes before coming to take my cousin an I drink order. Then once she did we were ready to order our food my cousin got a double cheese burger with fries which she didn’t end up bringing either of us napkins for! An I ended up ordering just a side of hash browns because she would not substitute the all American slam’s 3 eggs for another side of hash browns. I then said ok and looked some more at the menu as she is aggravated waiting for me to figure out what I want!! Mind you she could have suggested À la cart for all the items I wanted. Feeling rushed I said I’ll just take a said of hash please. She then snatched the menu’s and walked away no refills were brought to us the entire time. An as I said earlier no napkins I had to walk to the host station and get them myself. When I called the manager after we left she was very polite and seemed honestly sympathetic.
