Update 8-2023: Me and my husband went one day for lunch, also me and my mom has been there recently for lunch. When me and my husband this past week I want usual which was a friend bologna and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. They were out of the Bologna so I ordered a grilled ham and cheese sandwhich. They delivered it rather quickly which I was suprised cause pretty busy compared to any other times Ive ever gone. So I got my meal we had no silverware. The Grilled Cheese with Ham Sandwhich was absolutely fatty and disgusting. It was a huge chunk of ham on a drenched greasy half melted cheese. I took one bite and literally so disappointed and my hands even after one bite was greasy so after about 20 minutes of her running around I said we need silverware, Ketchup and some Napkins. She apologized. Even though she forgot the napkins a second time. I am a pretty understanding and forgiving person but especially due how busy it was. 2 things I just want to make Clear to South Side Diner. Is I would have rather waited awhile for a nice meal than someone bring me out a nasty, disgusting meal where no thought, care or anything was taken into delivering a pretty regular customer that comes in there. Lastly maybe retrain the cooks to deliver customer satisfaction with each meal as well as well as providing quality food. Slopping food together is unacceptable and who does that especially for a good name that you have.
Also- the last time me and my mom went to South Side Diner. The waitress who appears to take pictures with alot of the Elder Customers who have been going to South Side for awhile. My mom asked her for something and she was rude as heck. My mom didnt see the waitress face but as she was turning to go get the drinks she literally rolled her eyes. Not a fan of that waitress at all. Hope her eyeballs dont get stuck! It appears she may be one of the longest employees that has worked there. She seemed agitated. She should keep that to herself and not to her customers in any given situation.
Southside Diner is awesome and I absolutely love them and what they stand for. The really cool and amazing thing I noticed is on the sidewalk there is a fish🐟 symbol which is a christianity symbol with the letters engraved in the stone (ccw) which I thought was really awesome. I love going here because they have some really delicious food and they have the best staff ever who are...
Read moreGood food, lots of comfort food variety on the menu, (not a lot of health food choices). I've never had a bad meal at Southside. Fantastic service; quick, friendly, and attentive without hovering. They always seem to notice when you're at the bottom of your cup, no matter who your server is, what you're drinking, or where you're sitting. Nifty retro decor, always something to look at, which for older folks make a conversation starter, and for younger folks, a curiousity. They sale the old fashion candy as well as fresh baked goods, right at the entrance. So it is a little bit of a store. Id say the only drawback with that is that it does tend to get congested at the front door which is where the check out is, because you want to look and gawk and decide. However, it is a small area with people coming in, going out, paying their bill and shopping. It would be fabulous at that point because it is the only entrance, and folks coming & going see one another, sometimes people they know, they stop, shake hands, gab for a bit. It causes great congestion. Good casual place to gather, eat, and enjoy life. Great location, easy in and out, out of towners can't miss it, so it makes a great rendezvous point. The sign they have out front is quite prominent on the roadside. Plenty of parking in the lot in the back, although the front is a little tight. Don't be fooled by the salon in front, thinking you're in the wrong lot. The salon is part of the property as well. I've never investigated that yet, but I plan to one day, soon as I talk myself into cutting my...
Read moreMy basketball team was in mount Vernon for a basketball tournament. I ate here twice and I know some of the others ate there more than that in the the 4 days we were up there. I could tell the second we walked in it was gonna be great! The decor on the wall and the antiques everywhere gave the place a very classy feel. The first night I had the GusBuster Special. It was only $9.50 and it included all the breakfast items you could ever want! Great portion for price! Then for dessert I had an Oreo milkshake! It was relatively thin but had chunks of Oreo cookies. The best part was, it was served in a large thick glass! The service was amazing. Our server was Brandy. The first night we had a party of 9 and it came out very quickly. The second night I had the fried chicken. It was one of the more expensive meals on the menu at $13.50. But it was still worth it for all the food. It included a Breast, Thigh, leg, and wing, served on a bed of lettuce and two sides (curly fries are great!). It was delicious! The fascinating thing here was that we had at least 25 people and we were in and out of there in 1 HOUR!!! Fastest and kindest service around I’m sure! It was a great experience and I cannot wait to go back there at next years...
