when they first came to MOUNTAIN Home they were awesome. past 4 yrs it went down the toilet. for an all you can eat buffet we were there at6 PM. every single item were a few tiny pieces I'd fish cold and hard. fried rice cold hard maybe one serving spoon size worth. empty trays. I asked the man where is the food this is an all you can eat buffet but there is nothing here. he asked me what I wanted I said FOOD WHERE IS THE BUFFET WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHICH ONE DO I WANT? a buffet means full trays offered of all items the donuts are half sized they don't hide the cut down one side they are cold and rock hard so is your fried fish only 3 on them in this tray and they were no bigger than 1 inch each. he lied and said he just filled all trays 5 mins ago he swept his arms my eyes followed one eldey couple in their 80 maybe that old both shuffling their feet walking with walkers balancing a tray she had a teaspoon of rice and. I'm guessing boiled fish he had slightly more. another couple teenagers both looked anorexic their plate had a few items too. my date and I were the only other people in this place. I said dinner hour is starting and you ought to be ashamed with what is out here. I try this place once a week several weeks in a row hoping it's just a fluke I try lunch and dinner. it's not going down the hill it's all ready down the toilet and it ain't getting any better. what a shame it WAS wonderful I brought all my friends and family here. I wish would get a good buffet. The girl taking the money asked how was my lunch and dinners each time I tell them exactly I ask the writers where is the buffet they always say we loaded up each tray 5 mins ago . I've asked where is at this stuff is cold and hard. I guess people expect garbage and gladly pay for it because they don't want to hurt feelings. Its expensive and by holly I wish for the good foods again I won't settle for cold old and sparse foods. Pizza Hut has an excellent buffet they stay on top and their concerns are for the customers satisfaction. Talking to the people at Chens falls upon dead ears....
Read moreI wasn't impressed at all! This place was actually recommended us so we decided to give it a chance. We were warned that it wasn't the best location but sometimes those are the best places. Unfortunately, it wasn't! Once we located the place, we instantly had parking issues. It only is it ina little shopping center, but the parking is cramped, small and confusing. We drive a big truck so that made it even harder to park plus I am disabled so the parking was far from ideal! Still not a game changer.. aggravating but it happens! Once inside, the restaurant was much bigger than it appeared. They were running the buffet but you can also order from the menu, if you prefer. We went with the buffet. The set up was okay. 2 main buffets bars, a desert area and a Hibachi area. Here's where the disappointment set in, the SELECTION! It was mostly beef dishes with broccoli, a few shrimp dishes then American foods. The only difference between the beef dishes seemed to be that one had onions and bell peppers.. it all looked and tasted the same. Now, I'll admit, I'm a picky eater, thus the buffet but my BF he eats most everything even said it all tastes the same! He did like the banana pudding but, for me, the chicken on the stick was the only thing I found to be really good and the only chicken dish (besides the fried chicken) on the bar. To each their own but, for me, I'll skip this place the next time we visit. I'll add that our server did a good job but the hostess was not very friendly and the man who was doing deliveries, I think from an independent company, was rude and took up the entire checkout area with no regard for...
Read moreUpdate.... I don't know what happened, new cooks, new manager, new recipes???? But on mother's day the restaurant wife wanted to go to (Jamie's) only had a buffet with like 3 entrees and we didn't want those, nothing else open but fast food. I sucked it up and we went to Chen's and guess what??? The food was extremely good, so good actually that we've been back since AND I told wife she could take me there on Father's Day.
Old review I so wanted to give Chen's a chance, since we moved from Texas we've been here probably 4 times, sadly each time it seems like the food is more bland, I love a good buffet, heck I might even love a decent buffet but there's not been a single dish I've had where I've thought "this is yummy" everything is below mediocre.
The young lady at the register was absolutely beautiful, it's too bad that she obviously hated her job so much that she couldn't hide it, her frown was almost a scowl. I hate the 21st century nobody wants to work and if they do work it's half a$$ed and they act like they are doing YOU a favor by waiting on you then they expect a 20% tip.
Oh and this afternoon we even had to put up with 4 fat old hens cackling about all the out of towners getting in their way and good heavens "going the wrong way around the...
