Good budget choice, but rooms vary.
My first room was unacceptable. The main issue was location (door opened to the lobby)---I had trouble sleeping due to noise. But, there were other issues. The bathroom was cramped. The showerhead was chest-height (I'm 6'2"). The room had been inconsistently upgraded. Bathroom sinktop was a nice, dark granite, but it wasn't build-in and it was in the hallway separate from the rest of the bath. The light switches and outlets looked original (~20 years). The tub/shower and toilet seemed recently upgraded, but low-end. The pillows were polyester---I'm glad I brought my own down pillow. OTOH, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the decor wasn't dated.
I asked to be moved. They didn't empathize and I had to clean out my room and leave my luggage at the counter, but they did move me and the new room was much better---it was towards the end of the 3rd floor facing the street. There was no interior noise (yah!); the street noise didn't bother me even though I left the sliding door open. The bathroom was more spacious and the showerhead was higher (I didn't need to squat). I wouldn't mind coming back to the 2nd room again.
Overall, maybe worth a try if you're on a budget and can get a good rate, or can be reasonably certain that you'll be able to swap rooms if you get a dud. But, there are better...

I was given a room on the 3rd floor and when I entered I was welcomed with an overwhelming smell of air freshener with an underlying note of cigarette smoke. When I complained the front desk was very friendly about it though and switched me to a ground floor room.
Both of these rooms were very depressing in my opinion, dark, with an awkward layout, overlooking an industrial yard and with a noisy fridge in the middle of the room. Hence my original review.
However based on my review the manager contacted me, apologized with a bottle of wine (good I always carry a wine opener when traveling) and upgraded me to a king room.
I really appreciated the effort and generally the service throughout was very friendly and nice. For this I'm adding a star to my rating. Had I stayed in the bigger room from the start I might have given four.
However the the Queen rooms are still something to avoid and I generally I think as a "boutique hotel" I was missing a little of the enjoyment I was hoping for.
Just make sure to book a King size room when...
Read moreThis was my first trip since the pandemic and I had multiple meetings in Silicon Valley. I chose this hotel because of the ratings but was disappointed to find that the hotel clearly did not match the ratings. The best thing about the hotel is the staff, which seem to be how most people are rating the hotel. The room was dark and unclean. The nightstand was sticky, as was the controller. When taking a shower, the tub filled up with about 3 -4 inches of water and took about 15 minutes to drain. The toiletries provided were minimal. I was glad I brought my own and there was no breakfast. I was told by the staff that they weren't doing breakfast because of COVID restrictions. ||Well, I had a colleague staying across the street at another hotel and met him there so we could travel together for a meeting and they had a full breakfast bar. It's obvious that they are operating the hotel on a shoestring and trying to squeeze out as much profit as possible while providing the bare minimum to guests. And the beds were terrible, hard and uncomfortable. I would NOT recommend staying here unless staff friendliness is more important to you than cleanliness, amenities...
