Do NOT stay here - there were bedbugs in the room, as I woke up to blood on my sheets and a dead bed bug on the bed. I took pictures of this and forwarded them to management, and the manager acknowledged this and brought in professional exterminators and confirmed they found a few bed bugs (although he claims there was no active infestation, but who knows). Despite this, the manager refused to refund my first night's stay, which only frustrated me even more. Additionally, the general hotel cleanliness was terrible - the floors were stained and dirty and the bathrooms had a weird smell. Fun fact, housekeeping is not a daily thing. You have to ask them to come or else they won't. This probably contributes to the overall dirty state of the hotel. The elevator was also horrendously slow and creaky, and the front desk people were not friendly at all. I cut my stay short before I could further find out what inadequacies this hotel had. Do NOT stay at Hotel Vue in Mountain View

Service and location are good, but everything else in this hotel must be a someone's really bad joke. I am still in the hotel and couldn't wait to write this review. I am speechless as to the level of traffic noise the guests on SE rooms are exposed (especially in the hours between 4 am and 9 am). I probably would have been much better of if I just put a bunk bed on the sidewalk. My room is facing two major highways, and this by itself is not a problem (stayed at hotels in much busier intersection), but the issue here is that this hotel doesn't care about having room external doors shut down properly, what left, put some noise insulation (see photo). I live in an apartment two blocks away from above-ground subway, and it seems like a quite paradise compared to my room in this hotel. Should you ever decide to stay in a SE room in this hotel, bring your earplugs and noise cancellation headphones.

At this price point, it’s a solid hotel. You aren’t paying much, so you shouldn’t expect much. The floors are vacuumed, the bathrooms are clean (even though they could use a better caulk job, there are clear stains in 301). This hotel was last updated 10+ years ago and it shows. Rugs are worn need replacing, but they weren’t dirty. Patel Owners are clearly spending as little as possible to offer a base product. Internet was 30 mbps up/down but had latency. That’s probably why people complained. It worked, but not perfect for zoom. Patio windows need to be cleaned. An easy miss by the staff. Bed comfort was fine. Sheets were clean. Room fridge was handy. Staff was friendly. Air conditioning unit was surprisingly not loud and managed room temp well. If I need the cheapest, least offensive hotel in Mountain view, this would be it.

Good budget choice, but rooms vary.

My first room was unacceptable. The main issue was location (door opened to the lobby)---I had trouble sleeping due to noise. But, there were other issues. The bathroom was cramped. The showerhead was chest-height (I'm 6'2"). The room had been inconsistently upgraded. Bathroom sinktop was a nice, dark granite, but it wasn't build-in and it was in the hallway separate from the rest of the bath. The light switches and outlets looked original (~20 years). The tub/shower and toilet seemed recently upgraded, but low-end. The pillows were polyester---I'm glad I brought my own down pillow. OTOH, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the decor wasn't dated.

I asked to be moved. They didn't empathize and I had to clean out my room and leave my luggage at the counter, but they did move me and the new room was much better---it was towards the end of the 3rd floor facing the street. There was no interior noise (yah!); the street noise didn't bother me even though I left the sliding door open. The bathroom was more spacious and the showerhead was higher (I didn't need to squat). I wouldn't mind coming back to the 2nd room again.

Overall, maybe worth a try if you're on a budget and can get a good rate, or can be reasonably certain that you'll be able to swap rooms if you get a dud. But, there are better...

So my original review for the Vue was 2 stars and a comment that said "not very inspiring". I had booked a Queen sized room as nothing else was available online.

I was given a room on the 3rd floor and when I entered I was welcomed with an overwhelming smell of air freshener with an underlying note of cigarette smoke. When I complained the front desk was very friendly about it though and switched me to a ground floor room.

Both of these rooms were very depressing in my opinion, dark, with an awkward layout, overlooking an industrial yard and with a noisy fridge in the middle of the room. Hence my original review.

However based on my review the manager contacted me, apologized with a bottle of wine (good I always carry a wine opener when traveling) and upgraded me to a king room.

I really appreciated the effort and generally the service throughout was very friendly and nice. For this I'm adding a star to my rating. Had I stayed in the bigger room from the start I might have given four.

However the the Queen rooms are still something to avoid and I generally I think as a "boutique hotel" I was missing a little of the enjoyment I was hoping for.

Just make sure to book a King size room when...

This was my first trip since the pandemic and I had multiple meetings in Silicon Valley. I chose this hotel because of the ratings but was disappointed to find that the hotel clearly did not match the ratings. The best thing about the hotel is the staff, which seem to be how most people are rating the hotel. The room was dark and unclean. The nightstand was sticky, as was the controller. When taking a shower, the tub filled up with about 3 -4 inches of water and took about 15 minutes to drain. The toiletries provided were minimal. I was glad I brought my own and there was no breakfast. I was told by the staff that they weren't doing breakfast because of COVID restrictions. ||Well, I had a colleague staying across the street at another hotel and met him there so we could travel together for a meeting and they had a full breakfast bar. It's obvious that they are operating the hotel on a shoestring and trying to squeeze out as much profit as possible while providing the bare minimum to guests. And the beds were terrible, hard and uncomfortable. I would NOT recommend staying here unless staff friendliness is more important to you than cleanliness, amenities...
