Came here on a Saturday evening about 6pm with another couple - 4 total. We parked in the small parking garage and walked thru the garage entrance right to the restaurant.
We had to wait maybe 5 minutes to be seated. The owner was attentive and said we'd be seated quickly. High ceilings, nice bright colors, little lights here and there made this a happy place to be. Great vibe.
We were seated at a table by the windows with a nice ledge for our sunglasses and purses. The very nice server came over with menus and to explain the ordering system (using QR code to order) and the cool 'fill your own drink' system.
We ordered with our phones - easy - and the food came in about 10 mins. We had the tofu, the steamed pork pot stickers , pickled cucumbers, and the hoisin BBQ slider buns. All of it was GREAT! Seriously, the balance of flavors and textures was perfect. Each serving was sizable.
The self-serve beer/wine/cider wall was really cool. You take a 'tap' card that keeps track of your ounces and it's automatically added to your QR code seamlessly, you just pay in the end. The ciders were great, the Dragon fruit was a favorite of the group. Food was $36 for 2 appetizers and two large entrees - a good value for sure. My wife was tipsy from the $12 in alcohol drinks.
We spoke with the owner after he came over to apologize for a late entree, he's a great guy and you can really tell he and his staff care about every customer and their experience.
I rarely give a 5/5 in my reviews, and haven't reviewed a restaurant in 6 months but this visit to Baguus made me write a review! This restaurant is the top of my list locally and we will be...
Read moreWe’ve been coming here since it opened so I feel like I can review it accurately. The menu and ordering system is very interesting and unique - like tapas small plates for Asian food. Takes a minute to figure out but it has a lot of advantages since you can try many items and drinks. The food is absolutely incredible! Honestly, by far the best Asian food in a 10 mile radius at least. Just wow! 10/10. The dining area is also very cozy and inviting.
Update 2024: The below concerns have been gradually fixed over time. Ill also add the service is very quick now! Changing to 5/5! """ Ok so why the 4 star rating? Unfortunately it’s the service, but probably not what you think… It seems the management encourages the staff to come by the tables frequently and keep a close eye on the tables, which was nice at first but after a couple times it’s just too much. Good service is being attentive but also knowing when to leave patrons alone so we can have conversations and just enjoy the food and atmosphere. When I visit I just feel watched and micromanaged the whole time I’m there, with someone at the table asking to take away minor things every few minutes. Maybe it’s a preference but I just can’t relax like that.
Anyways, I hope the management sees this and I can change this review to 5 stars eventually when they relax on the table micromanaging a bit. Either way we will definitely be back! There is a lot to...
Read more9/9/22-- menu has much improved with more items with proteins since they first opened so I'm updating my review to reflect this change. I much like the chicken nanban small plate. Waffle fries are always good, but I much prefer the wasabi flavor than the curry flavor which they put too much in. I hope the restaurants considers having both on the menu instead of only 1 at a time. The mochi brownie is also one of our favorites. It is different from your regular brownie, and best of all not as sweet as it looks, which is great! The fish tacos has a lot of vegetable and tasted ok but not enough fish in it.
11/28/21 -- Pan-Asian restaurant with interesting concept of pour your own drinks (beer, wine, cider). This allows you to pay by the ounce of which ever drink(s) you want. You're given a card and tap the card at card reader on top of dispenser, and it keeps track of how much you've poured.
Food is very reasonably priced and comes out quickly. My favorites are wasabi waffle fries and the Baguus Sundae. Shrimp tostada is also recommended. Buttered noodle sounds better than it tasted...too starchy and not quite buttery tasting. Tom yum noodle is salty and not as satisfying as comparing to actually having a bowl of soup. Overall menu is limited and I feel like we've pretty much tried everything after one meal.
Parking is easy with street parking or the parking garage inside...
