Shahi Tandoor & Grill — Restaurant in Mountlake Terrace

I've been waiting for this establishment to open for months. After a short walk from my building, in the same plaza as Double D Meats and Snohomish Pie Co., I was greeted warmly from the host as I entered. I ordered the Butter Marsala with lamb and one Spinach-Paneer naan. Entrees offer a choice of spice level. (mild-medium-hot)

Service was friendly, attentive, and I didn't wait long for my dish.

I ordered my Marsala with a medium spice level, a risky choice for my delicate white guy stomach. No regrets! The lamb was tender and delicious. The spice was on point and enhanced the flavor instead of suffocating my mouth with heat. The basmati rice was cooked to perfection and the naan was so satisfying in both taste and texture. I was worried the spinach would take the form of slimy strands inside the bread; but I was delighted to find it's actually pureed so the crispness of the crust remains in tact.

The portion was ample. A couple could enjoy a dish together (if they aren't selfish) or those not ashamed to dine alone will have left-overs to enjoy the next day. I had enough Marsala left over, I ordered a plain naan to-go and the next day's lunch is sorted.

I'm so glad Shahi Tandoor is open for business in MLT. The Terrace is in need of more variety when it comes to cuisine options and I hope the locals give this place a chance. It does not disappoint.

*One small note concerning the atmosphere - the windows at the front of the restaurant go floor to ceiling and anyone sensitive to cold will not be comfortable if sat near them. I'd recommend hanging some insulated drapes to fix this...

I reeeeeally wanted to like this place. Let me explain. I was looking for a halal place in the area that I could take my family out to. It was yesterday (Sunday), and I didn't want everything to wait out eating dinner on a 30 minute drive back home.

So I looked on Google maps and came across this place. Reviews seemed good so we decided to give it a try.

Unfortunately, there was a pattern of issues. I will try to explain without being too wordy.

Cleanliness The place was clean. Fantastic. But the bathroom was not. Its hard for me to deal with a dirty bathroom. And I needed to wash for prayer. Given it was the only toilet (I think), it needs to be cleaned constantly. Otherwise, its going to look bad quick.

Food & Drinks We arrived before two other tables. We got our food after. That was the first problem. The second issue, was bringing out cold food. We ordered 3 curries, rice, and a mixed appetizer dish. And also 3 cups of chai and bread. Two curries was hot, one was not. The appetizer was lukewarm, and the chai was cold. I didn't complain about the food but I REALLY wanted a hot chai. So i asked them to take it back and make it hot. They brought it back 10 minutes later...cold. I sent it back again, and it was brought back the same way again. My mom put her finger in the chai to show them how cold it was. But we gave up on that. Rice and bread was barely warm.

On the other hand, the food is actually really good taste wise. But you can't be serving cold food.

I mean, I'm there for the food and drinks. Would be hard justifying trying this...

Decent prices and delicious! I’ll recommend lamb curry , best of the best! Especially if you’re looking for halal food! Rapid service, if you order to go,you’ll get your order in 15 minutes which is very quick compared to other Indian restaurants! Cause I’ve been in many Indian restaurants in Seattle area, I highly recommend this place don’t listen the negative reviews, I order food from this place at least 4-5 times per week! Every Friday they have promo prices for Briyani! I noticed the negative comment from weird person, there is nothing wrong being Mexican or indian to cooking other cultures cuisine as long as they taught by chef, this is US, any race can be part of any cuisines! That’s why we are here! Sorry for being emotional, I just can’t stand when I see something unfair, this place is pretty decent with nice atmosphere and very friendly crew, when even they were almost close , they took my order without any complaints, huge respect for...
