My 2 favorite mexican restaurants, hands down, for the last 25+ years and both in Berks County!! Some might not know that there are 2 locations…one in Temple, PA where I regularly frequent and also one in Kutztown, PA. Both family owned and run by a brother and a sister and their families since the beginning! (Note: Kutztown location is BYOB)
There is something special about their food, it is an amazing authentic taste like no other!! To start, their homemade salsa and chips are always free including a chopped cabbage and peppers mix salsa, which you can eat alone with tortilla chips or combine with the tomatoe mild salsa they give along with the cabbage mix salsa. Upon request they also offer a green chile spicy, HOT, but oh so good, salsa. All salsas always served together with warm tortilla chips for starters and is always free. Next is their drinks which are not premixed!! I highly recommend their margaritas which come on the rocks or frozen and in plain or fruity choices as well as their Pina Coladas. Mmm mm! They also have beer and soda as well of course. Next, in looking at their menu, you won’t know what to get first as everything looks and sounds and is out of this world! I personally LOVE their enchiladas (many selections) but have gotten many other items and nothing has ever disappointed!!! They also have a signature pepper with cheese which you just have to try as an ala carte or as a meal! All dishes are offered with a red or green sauce over the top or in side for the extra added flavor that sets them apart from any other mexican cuisine anywhere!!! I can’t say enough about both locations!!! I feel like family after this many years eating at this family owned and operated with their own special recipes superb restaurant!!!! Each dish is made with love and their hospitality is 100%. Kudos to you my amigos as this is the one and only and the real deal when it comes to mexican food! Nothing else compares or comes even close! Here’s to the next 25+ more years! Gracious, gracious!!!!!!...
Read moreI have been coming here once a week on my lunch break for the past 4 months or so. I always get the chimichanga lunch, which comes with beans and rice.
For $10 you get: -Chimichanga filled entirely with meat (your choice beef, chicken, pork, etc.) -Topped with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, cheese, and guacamole -Fresh salsa verde or roja -Fresh corn chips and pico de gallo -Generous portion of yellow rice -Generous portion of refried beans -Drink
You can not even get a meal from industrially made and processed fast food for $10 these days. You can't even get the cheapest burrito from Chipotle for $10 these days. Even if it was $15, the value is frankly unbelievable, and this extends to the other menu options.
I want to also mention that I have a very severe food allergy (epi-pen type) to dairy, which as anyone with such a restriction will know it is almost impossible to eliminate cross contamination especially in a place that typically puts cheese and sour cream on everything. After explaining my allergy to the server, I have never had even a hint of a reaction. Even when my other guests order the same thing but with cheese and sour cream. If you've worked in the industry you know this tells of a clean, well maintained kitchen, and a knowledgeable staff.
The server is fast, attentive, and friendly, even during a a busy service.
I cannot recommend this place enough and I can only hope other businesses follow...
Read moreI am super upset about this. I came home with a to go order last night for my children taco salad a.k.a. not taco salad of course do not have a shell. On top of that they made it with steak not ground beef like I had asked even for myself so that’s $10 plus $10 the first time they brought me out chicken. The second time bland steak.. I asked for ground beef on both. Then I asked for a taco they sent my daughter home a taco shell empty. They charged us almost $60 for an empty taco shell and two disgusting taco salads with nothing on it that shredded lettuce and some bland steak that was disgusting we threw it out. I will never go back there the only thing good literally was the drinks. ! I will be disputing this on my card. I do not get bad reviews and I love Mexican food and I love Puerto Rican food but this was God awful. My husband was drinking that’s the only way he ate his carne Asada. I don’t mind paying for that but I want the rest taken care of! Disgusting my kids threw their food away what does that say it...
