IF YOU LOOKED at my receipt you would think I bought 2 maple bacon, a French toast, and a honey glazed...but actually I had a sandy beach, raspberry filled...a churro..and a coconut It was going to be two friends meeting for breakfast but it was freezing inside and the lights were so bright that we felt like we were being investigated like the city of Muncie by the FBI...so we opted to just get our order to go.. we drove SEPARATELY. We were going to need two separate boxes and the girl behind the counter acted like that would kill her to get another box for my friend. WHY name them if you don't keep an inventory...or if they are all the same price..or if you hire people who can't read...I dont know..and it doesn't matter but what really got me and why I am leaving this review is because I was bought these donuts by a client of mine and was so impressed...I had not had a 'cronut'...aka Cresent rolls made into a donut since 2014 in California. This was identical to a shop I had them from in Orange County and wanted to share the experience with another friend thatbtheee had finally made it to Indiana. And then I made it to the cash register...when she says....you forgot to answer a question.
Hahhaha. I clearly put in my card.. i thought went through just fine..I was actually just waiting on her to do something. There was no way.... I had missed a question... but she pointed it out.
I looked to my right... a lady was standing there staring at me and I say oh this question do I want to leave a tip? I SAID ABSOLUTELY NOT.... NO. FOR WHAT? FEELING BAD, ASKING FOR AN EXTRA BOX, FREEZING, HAVING TO NOT HAVE BREAKFAST WITH MY FRIEND AND EATING ALONE, NOT BEING EMBARRASSED BUT BEING CALLED OUT aka asked PUBLICLY OUTLOUD FOR NOT ANSWERING A QUESTION ABOUT A TIP... why don't you educate yourself about how tipping came about and the history of it. Tipping is not for cashiers...it's not for owners... and read up on etiquette.. parlor donuts are not a necessity.. and should be served with a fork..and offered drinks when you check out. I think you should Remove the question from your kiosk...it's rude. It puts people on the spot how about maybe typing the correct items hahah not my problem but for future inventory to account...
Read moreOn November 8, I visited Parlor with a friend of mine. We drove separate and met there. The place is freezing cold so there was no way we could eat inside. The case with the cronuts.... had these 10 years ago when I lived in California...Cresent rolls as donuts..had a variety of named items. What does SANDY ⛱️ BEACH taste like? Or how do you know what has filling or not? The person behind the counter acted as if we were a burden because we didn't want our items in the same box. But did give us two separate boxes.. because our breakfast wasn't going to be eaten together in this place. These are items that can't be shared or eaten in a vehicle without a knife...fork...a plate. And they are messy because the donut/cronut is so big and had toppings that drop everywhere. Upon paying I used my card.. and the person behind the counter says I need to sign.. or something on that sort..I said I already did.. she then says there is a question at the top..
The question is for a tip.... a tip? For what? Does this place not pay their employees full wage? Did this girl serve me? Go out of her way?
No. She didn't. She acted as if I was a burden. Conversed only with an employee or friend who was in the back/side. Never asked if we wanted drinks etc.
There was a lady next to me who had just checked out. And a kid and adult at a table..
Why are tips expected? Or even asked for on this screen. But I said oh the question is about a tip... 13.80 for 4 donuts. To go. I did not leave a tip.
My receipt. Maybe this business doesn't do inventory, or try to see what sells the most.. but my receipt was for 4 donuts I didn't purchase. If they are all one price just have one option. Maybe she can't read..who knows. I would be inclined to wonder what the best selling donut is so I could make sure that its available.
According to my receipt... Jamie L. Charged me for 2 maple bacon, a French toast and a honey glazed.
What I bought was raspberry filled, churro, sandy beach, and a coconut options.
How about remove the tip option or offer full service dine in option.
I usually try a place three times before crossing them off of my list... but this place is one I will not be...
Read moreI'm gonna start this off that I really tried to like this place and I know it can be good based off the first time I went which was opening weekend. I got the French Toast Donut and it was delicious, with the buttery layers and if it was based off of that I would have given 5 stars. However, I went back and I got a couple donuts and they weren't done all the way. I contacted them about this to try and let them know and they thanked me and refunded me and I appreciated that. So I decided to give another chance because they were so good the first time and again, a little raw in the middle and I could tell based on appearance and the flavor. I contacted them again and they tried to tell me this was the way they were supposed to be and it's from the glaze that sits on the top and was also told that if they were raw that the inside they would be the consistency of mayo. Unfortunately I know that this wasn't true and I know what a raw donut that is almost done is like and what it tastes like. I wasn't going to give a review until I tried one more time and so today, I tried again and shared these with my sister who is a pastry chef and we both knew again that these were still raw. I really did want to like this place and kept trying it in hopes it would be like the first time I had them but sadly I won't be back. I hope they are able to get this...
