Last night, we tried out the newest Mexican restaurant in the area, El Patron.

When they were building it, the signs highlighted street tacos, so we all thought it was going to be more of a taco focused joint, but the menu is huge. It's really just another Mexican restaurant to choose from. The inside of the building is beautiful, though. They did a great job erasing pizza hut and highlighting a clean, modern Mexican vibe.

We had a pretty big variety of things. The chips and salsa were average. Not excellent but not bad. Same goes for the queso. Our friend's carnitas were dry but had decent flavor. The California burrito looked huge and full of meat. My partner said he should have ordered that 🤣 2 people got birria tacos and said our normal spot to get those would remain. They weren't as flavorful here. My shrimp chipotle was good, but I should have asked for corn tortillas instead of just leaving it to the kitchen. I prefer them and was actually surprised to see flour tortillas with the dish. The final bill for 5 of us with 2 margaritas was $102 plus tip, which seemed like a lot but I guess we all ordered drinks, not water, so 🤷

All in all, it's not excellent but it's not bad. It's another Mexican restaurant to choose from in the area. It's better than the older ones in the area with multiple locations, so...

My boyfriend and I ate here lastnight and now neither of us can stop throwing up. He had the California burrito and I had tenders and fries. I gave my tenders and fries to my little one and ended up sharing the burrito with my boyfriend so my baby isn’t sick, but we are literally throwing up almost nonstop. We’ve eaten here before and never had a problem with the food , but something was off with the food lastnight. Update: We definitely did have food poisoning that was confimed at the hospital & when I tried to leave my name and number for the owner to contact me Carla refused to take it , but instead insisted that I leave my child and I’s medical paperwork with her. We will now be contacting legal counsel to resolve the matter since Carla feels like she can handle this instead of letting the owner contact...

We have always loved el patron. After supporting them for many months we have recently decided to drop the restaurant all together. The food was pretty solid across the board, but prices have been going through the roof recently and it’s just not worth it. Further more we had a poor experience today with a gentle men who accused us of stealing 2 drinks. Actually insane since we have a very clear receipt attached to our bag stating that we had already purchased the drinks. Over all disappointed that after months of spending over 50 dollars every time we visit we would so quickly be accused of stealing. If we were gonna take an over priced bottle drink from anywhere it would have been from the gas station down the street. Check yourself before you wreck yourself or so the...

El Patron Taqueria! I was there today, Sunday, 07MAY23. Excellent, authentic Mexican cuisine. Fast. Fresh. Tasty. Large portions (come hungry). Well prepared. Sunny, happy, fun décor. Clean restrooms. Happy, smiling service. Easy access off of Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Hungry? Go see Roman, one of the owners at El Patron Taqueria!! Too bad the top rating is only five stars... because if there were more stars, this place would get them all!! The food and service is so good that if they had a place to sleep here between meals… I’d never leave!!

Good stuff. I settled for a Chimichanga Supremeas and was surprised at how well the proteins were prepped. The shredded chicken was tender and moist, the asada chunks were flavorful, even the ground beef was done right. The tortillas had just enough crisp and the salad side was cold and a perfect contrast to the main. Service was great but the price is a little higher than usual for a lone diner. That card fee compounds sometimes, I swear. Other than that the diner was clean, the bar was stocked with basics and service was decent.
