My wife and I have been here a few times with others and I've never had a terrible experience. Everything that I've eaten here has been absolutely delicious, and I love their pork rinds, however I do feel that their food, along with their mixed drinks are overpriced for what you get. My latest experience soured me from ever making it my first choice. I met some people for happy hour (3p-6p) one afternoon last week. I didn't want a high priced mixed drink and I saw that they were having $2.50 domestic drafts and bottles so I decided to order a Bold Rock Cider (both domestic and in a bottle). At 5:45 p.m., I ordered my third and final bottle of Bold Rock. When the check came, they had charged me $3.25 per bottle. When I asked them about it and even showed them their happy hour sign, they told me that Bold Rock wasn't considered part of that. Of course I explained that not only was it in a bottle, but it's manufactured in North Carolina. Furthermore, I showed them that they literally put the logo on their happy hour sign. I would have been fine if they would have fixed the price and said "our apologies but that shouldn't have been there," however they decided to stick to their guns. We also had to have them look up the exact time that our order of appetizers was placed because it too was on the list and they tried to charge us full price.
Like I said, they have really good food and you can get almost anything you want to drink, but be prepared to pay out the nose for it. Definitely won't be my first choice and I'll probably not go back unless someone begs me to. Hopefully your experience will...
Read moreFor my first visit, it was for lunch, it was a slow Wednesday. I stopped on the suggestion of a fellow patron at another bar. First impression lacking in signage. From the road you wouldn't know its here. I new where to look so I got here ok. Small side walk sign says 20% off lunch, good deal. Very cozy floor plan. Small stage. Karaoke. Live music on Fridays I think. Light music. Non smoking bar, I like that. Sat at the bar , very friendly guy ,Ken, greated me made me feel welcome. His wife, Jenn, came in a little later and took over the bar, very nice and sincerely conversational. Beer selection is good, 12 taps , and a roughly 30 bottled. Liquor well stocked. Prices on par with most of the boro area. Food is standard bar fair. Nothing really jump out as far as signature but ill have to visit a few more times to get a better taste. Prices are again not outrageous, running $11-$15 for entrees. Apps are$5-$9 I had the wing. Tacos, and a slider. The wings are great , there crisp and well cooked. Got the buffalo and nash hot. First was good, but the mash hot was a little lacking in the taste and heat. Expected more of both. The tacos where tasty not a kalslaw fan but still ok looked great. The slider ,on the other hand was so so. Nothing unexpected. The rest room for lunch is well kept and nice. Kitchen is small, and could use some organization, but appeared clean upon passing. Not dirty or messy. All in all a very nice lunch and not a bad bill.
Rating 1-10 First visit...........................7 Hope to come back and find more surprises...
Read moreJust heard about Hanks Honky Tonk last week, we couldn’t wait to try it. We are from central IN where breaded tenderloin sandwiches are king. We have not found one in the south after living here 35 years. Needless to say we were quite excited. Daisy was the bartender she greeted us immediately. She was very friendly and professional. We both ordered the breaded tenderloin sandwich with fries. It was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside. There was more food than I could eat. It means lunch tomorrow for me. My husband thought that MAYBE the grease needed a change. We will know on our next visit. We are very happy to know that Hanks will satisfy these 2 Hoosier...
