Very busy Sunday, ordered 2 catfish plates with 3 sides. 1 drink and one piece of chess pie. Waited close to 40 minutes from the time we ordered for our food. Had to go back to the counter to see where it was. We were about to get a refund and leave. I understand they're busy but most everything is already cooked & served cafeteria style and doesn't take 40 minutes to fry a couple pieces of fish. Elderly lady working there was very helpful and friendly. She brought us a complimentary piece of lemon chess pie for our wait. I think the whole operation is a bit disorganized. From ordering to pick up. Food, eh, the hot water cornbread is good. Catfish is pretty good. White beans were not cooked all the way and didn't have much flavor. Cabbage wasn't very flavorful either. Fried okras good. Mashed potatoes, instant. Sweet potatoes pretty good. Regular chess pie and lemon chess pie were pretty good. Also, why do you charge 3 or 4 dollars more for the exact same plates on Sunday? But not getting anything more. Almost $45 for 2 plates of food 1 piece of pie and 1 drink. Too much..... response to owner, I wasn't in any way trying to "bash" anyone. Just leaving an honest review from our experience. Potatoes did taste instant. I didn't want a refund because we received our food and we are not the kind of people trying to get free food. That's not right. Your mother is a sweet lady and I thought she had said lemon chess pie, I must have heard her wrong. My SO had one piece, I had the...
Read moreI ordered chicken & dressing & it was horrible. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to Find good food in Nashville. Before I ordered I googled the restaurant. Being black, I at least thought it was going to be good. I threw the whole plate away in the trash. This food was nasty. Who cooked today? They need to be fired. I wouldn’t serve this to a homeless person. Terrible, please do better 🤮Why would anyone think this food is great. Apparently they don’t have taste buds. You don’t even deserve 1 star. How can you mess up chicken & dressing? Apparently y’all did. Sweet potatoes & mac n chz were horrible.

Wow. I left an honest review about my personal experience, and instead of receiving professionalism, I got insults and accusations. That in itself says more about your business than I ever could.
Food reviews are subjective—what tastes great to one person may not to another. That doesn’t make me a liar, nor does it give you the right to attack me personally or bring race into the conversation. That was completely out of line.
Your response shows a lack of respect for your customers. While you may have years of cooking experience and many supporters, dismissing criticism with hostility instead of taking it as constructive feedback is not the way to build long-term success.
I truly wish you the best, but I’ll take my business to establishments that value all customers and can handle reviews with...
Read moreI found this gem of a restaurant via a Reddit thread discussing the best food in Murfreesboro.
I brought my daddy here for a late lunch/early dinner today and we were beyond pleased with our decision to try Jeff’s out!
I love the feel of the place— very tidy and clean, very homey. They have beautiful family photos in the space and cute decor that all communicate that this is a family establishment, which I love. There is power in the dollar and I believe fully that where you choose to spend your money says something about you. Why go to a chain restaurant when you can support a family-owned, local business like Jeff’s?
We were greeted heartily by the kind people working in the front of house. You can’t find service like this anywhere anymore! I love feeling like I’m entering someone’s home, having a meal prepared by loving hands.
We both got the chicken and dressing with gravy and it was fabulous. I had spinach and cabbage, both absolutely delicious. My dad said his sides— pintos and sweet potatoes— were wonderful also, and that the sweet tea was amazing!
And y’all, let me not forget to talk about their BREAD. My dad got the flapjack and said it was just stellar, that he’s never had anything like it. I tried a homemade yeast roll and found it to be just perfect. When I tell you I will drive the 40 miles from my home just for this food, I am not lying!
Thank you, Jeff’s! We had a great time with...
