A True Gem for Coffee Lovers in Murphy, TX!
Original Mocha is hands down one of the best coffee shops I’ve visited in the DFW area. If you’re searching for authentic Yemeni coffee, specialty lattes, or a unique café experience, this is the spot!
They offer everything from traditional Yemeni drinks like Jubani, Maleki, and Sana’ani coffee to bold espresso-based favorites like the OM Signature Latte, Spanish Latte, and Rose Velvet Latte. I also tried the Pistachio Latte and the Caramel Macchiato — both perfectly balanced and incredibly smooth.
Their Ice Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso is on par with (or better than) anything you’d get at a national chain, but with more personality and depth. The iced refreshers like Dragon Fruit, Hibiscus Refresher, and Mango Arabian are super refreshing and not overly sweet.
And don’t skip the non-alcoholic mojitos — the Strawberry Peach and Passion Fruit Pomegranate were unreal.
They also serve traditional Arabic coffee, Turkish coffee, and pour-over V60, which you rarely find done right outside of specialty roasters.
Oh — and the pastries! I tried their famous Sabaya and Bee Bites, both traditional Yemeni desserts, and they were buttery, soft, and full of flavor. They also have milk cakes and cheesecakes in flavors like pistachio, rose, and biscoff.
The shop itself is beautiful — warm wood accents, orange and cream tones, and a cozy, modern feel. It’s a great place to bring friends or relax solo with a book. They even offer 16oz iced drink upgrades, alternative creamers, and honey as a sweetener.
If you’re looking for a coffee shop in Murphy, a specialty café, or the best place for authentic Yemeni drinks, Original Mocha is the place to go. You’ll taste the difference...
Read moreThis is a great place! I ordered a small Turkish coffee and a chocolate croissant. The croissant warmed up was flaky and delicious, and also large (it also felt pricy, but that didn't bother me). The Turkish coffee is their version of black coffee with no added cream or sugar. I thought it was delicious; it was smooth, its flavor was mild and nice but not in your face, and it wasn't bitter. As a person who can't really do creams and such, I actually felt like I really enjoyed my beverage for what it was on its own.
The actual shop is very clean with plenty of seating and comfy chairs and leather cushions. Outdoor seating looks inviting, and from inside it offered a surprisingly quaint view of trees and other shops, despite it being off a busy road. Something else to note (haha) is their choice of music playing in the shop. I really appreciated it; it was a mixture of piano remixes along with some mild pop and newer tracks, but it fit the vibe by being a vibe all on its own and didn't feel out of place with the shop itself. It also wasn't too loud, so if I came with a friend I could actually hear them speak.
At the time of this review it looks like they opened rather recently, but it's a gem of a place. Can't wait...
Read moreSo, this is my 4th time coming here this week! It’s honestly THAT good. Let’s do a deep dive analysis lol.
The coffee: Me and the pistachio latte go together real bad! It’s so yummy, I have to try so hard to not finish it in 5 minutes.
The decor: it’s absolutely stunning. The colors, the artwork, the light music in the background. Just enough to give you a good vibe but not so overwhelming that you can’t enjoy the company you’re with.
Now let’s get to my personal favorite part, the service: This is what keeps me coming back! Everyone is so friendly and greets you with warm smiles. My personal favorite barista is Miss Nia. She was so sweet, and never forgets to say hello and goodbye. She always has a smile and she’s committed to making sure you are pleased with your order! I’ve also had the pleasure of having Lea make my Spanish latte. She took the time to ask what sweetness levels I like and gave insightful suggestions.
Anyways, see yall again...
