My four friends and I recently vacationed in Myrtle Beach for a birthday celebration for one of our party. Gaucho’s Brazilian Steakhouse was recommended through online ratings/reviews and local residents. This is my review based on our shared experience and discussion afterward. What we expected from our dining experience was NOT what we received
it was so much MORE. HOW IT STARTED: We were warmly greeted by the maitre d’, our reservation was acknowledged and we were immediately seated. We gave our drinks orders - Brazilian Limeade is a glorious revelation. Refreshing and delicious! Our waiter, Lawrence, introduced us to the bountiful and fresh salad bar, then explained how “gauchos” would bring servings of meat that we could stop at any time by flipping our individual service card - Red side for “stop” or Green side for “keep it coming’”. We were given a low, slow ball pitch of fried mini chicken drumsticks and, my sweet Heavens, they were unbelievably delicious! They were beautiful: glowing, golden color and not obnoxiously coated in flour. The crunch was amazing and then everything hit at once: the seasoning, the tenderness of the meat, the smell. They were amazing. HOW IT WENT: After the chicken drumsticks, we were eager for more. We were generously treated to bacon wrapped chicken, barbecued & seasoned flank steak, T-bone, prime rib, ribeye and NY strip followed by selections of pork, lamb, chicken hearts. The bounty never ended until we all flipped our cards to Red. Lawrence was never far away and was amazingly attentive. THE WRAP UP: We ordered dessert with a surprise. Because it was one of our party’s birthday, the ENTIRE front, service and kitchen cooks brought a beautiful flĂĄn and sang “Parabens pra vocĂȘ” which is the Brazilian birthday song. Of course, the flĂĄn was firm, buttery and melt-in-the-mouth delicious, the crĂšme was not overly sweet and provided a subtle, beautiful finish. IN SUMMARY: Although we went to Gaucho’s for a special occasion, I should acknowledge that it felt more like having a wonderful, home cooked meal with family. We met the owners and their family - all amazingly sweet, personable and professional. This is a place to which we will return - individually or together - many more times in the future. Our sincerest thanks to Gaucho’s staff and management for the best and most unexpected dining experience!

I eat out often and like good quality restaurants. This was my first visit to Gauchos. I was very impressed because I've lived in Brazil & have high expectations when eating at any Brazilian restaurant. The ambiance is very good. The decore is brand new & classy. Everything looks brand new & very clean. The overal presentation of food and quality of food is great. We went during the busy dinner hours & it wasn't crazy packed like other restaurants, plenty of comfortable seating. I enjoyed that everyone speaks Portugese as well as English to me. It was nice to be catered to by the servers & gauchos as if I were in Brazil. No staffing issues here, plenty of help & quality service. Every waiter spoke to us & offered individual preferences. At a time when all other restaurants are having to close or change hours along with food shortages & menu changes, it is though Gauchos remains untouched by The Pandemic. The Picanha steak is the best cut along with the Abacaxi 🍍 pineapple with cinnamon a must try if you haven't. There is something for everyone, even if you have vegetarians dining with you. My number one thing I judge all Brazilian restaurants by is the Pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread balls). They were some of the best I've ever eaten. 😋 Not to mention the choices of quality meat cuts & salad bar. They have a plentiful drink menu with delicious Brazilian drinks as well as regular bar. They had my favorite apple salad, potato mayonnaise, brazilian chicken salad & of course the usual select cheeses to choose from. I will tell you this is now my Brazilian restaurant of choice over the larger Rioz restaurant locally. I prefer less tourists, less overcrowding, no wait seating and the highest quality of food with no substitutes. The pricing is a bit less than Rioz too. Hands down best in town overall. Thanks for the great meal! Obrigado!

Why have you not eaten here? Why? Our son loves Brazilian Steakhouses, So we decided to try Gauchos Brazilian Steakhouse. It was outstanding. The restaurant is spacious, there is ample parking, and the service is just top-notch We did the “all you can eat” buffet and it was delicious. For those of you who have not tried this experience, you typically start with a large salad bar, followed by “gauchos” who bring various meats, cheeses and grilled pineapple to your table on skewers and platters. You have a card with a green side and a red side, which lets them know if you are still eating. Our favorite dishes included the grilled pineapple, chicken legs, filet mignon and spicy Pichana. All were outstanding. But note you have many choices of meats from beef, pork and chicken. I highly recommend you check the menu online. I have been to a few Brazilian steakhouses, and the one thing I appreciated about this location was that the meats were lightly seasoned with rock salt. Not over powering like some others. The staff here was top-notch. The gauchos were frequent, and the waiters and management stopped by often to make sure we had everything we needed. I always appreciate when they ask specifically what food you want and then make sure a gaucho comes quickly with that meat at the temperature you desire. That is great customer service. For those of you who are vegetarians, The salad bar is great. Tons of fresh Vegetables, salads and a lot of choices. There is even a menu for kids. If you don’t fill up during dinner, there is always dessert. I tried the Brazilian Flan. Yummy! So we will add this restaurant to our list of places we must visit when we come to Myrtle Beach. Great food, great selection, and outstanding service. I highly recommend you try it! You won’t leave hungry!

Never EVER spend your money here. I have never experienced anything like this in 49 years. 2 of us decided to try this place based on the high reviews. The food was actually really good, no complaints whatsoever. One of us had the full rodizio meal, the other had the hot bar option only because they do not eat very much meat. During the meal, we felt like the managers were hovering, however we didnt really think much more about it. When the bill came, they charged the person who only had the hot bar for the entire rodizio (extra $15). It was perfectly clear that was not the meal they had. When I brought this to the manager's attention, she corrected the bill, only to find she then added 20% gratuity for a party of 2! When I questioned her about the gratuity for a party of 2, her response was, "well thats what we do when you don't tip 20%". I didnt understand what she meant because we didn't even pay the bill or have an opportunity to tip yet. Her next statement was, "well, somebody said you guys were here before and tipped poorly". YES, SHE REALLY SAID THAT, not to mention we were in town for vacation and never even been there before. The restaurant hasn't even been there very long. Once I told her this was the first time we ever been there she tried to apologize repeatedly saying it was a mistaken identity etc.. I have never heard of any employee of an establishment addressing a customer like this in any situation. This is not ok, and no, I can not prove it, but I feel this was purely an issue of targeted racism as one of us is African American. We did not complain about anything throughout the entire dinner and actually complimented the taste of the meal prior to this happening. Go to this place if you want to, but you have been been warned! *Edit review based on owners response If you are seriously interested in making this right, you should give a full refund of what I paid at your restaurant and be embarrased and insulted by your staff. I may actually come by there again and see if that person is actually still there or not. She presented herself...
