What a great, and fun experience! Can't help but laugh at the few 1-star reviews. Not sure what there is to complain about. My wife, 9 y/o daughter and myself went in looking for a decent meal and an entertaining show. What we got, was a great meal (nothing spectacular, but it was pretty good) and an amazing experience!
In short, I highly recommend this show to anyone. If you have a few minutes and want to know why, and what to expect, read on.
The venue was easy to find, and offered on-site parking, so that was nice and easy. We were 15-20 minutes early, but there were already workers greeting us at the entrance, ready and waiting to help guide us on where to go. They were nice and seemed genuinely excited to have us at the show. The room was a small-ish, reception hall type banquet room. Which is about what I expected. They packed quite a few people in to see the show, but it never seemed overcrowded. The wait staff dishing out the food was very cheerful and friendly.
The food was an assortment of things, where everyone can find something they like. From the other reviews it seems the menu deviates a little. For us it was pre-portioned garden salads, and fruit cocktails. We found this very convenient as you could stack the lidded containers and it made everything easier to carry. Then we had "sticky" rice, diced potatoes, and mixed vegetables. Then there was some kind of chicken, mahi mahi which had a lemon-pepper flavor, and shredded pork, which you could get bbq sauce on the side. Finish it off with a dinner roll, and a red velvet cupcake, also pre-portioned in it's own container. I wasn't expecting a meal prepared by Chef Gordon Ramsey, and I didnt get one. But what I got was a pretty tasty, and filling meal. Did I mention it was all you can eat? My daughter went back for a second helping of that pork! The complementary drinks were in large drink dispensers with a vat of ice, do-it-yourself style, as expected. There was also a bar available if you wanted an alcoholic beverage, but we didnt.
On to the show! Tons of fun. The singers and band were fantastic! The emcee was great, and had plenty of simple dad jokes to make you roll your eyes one way, but chuckle on the back end. There were traditional dances performed by both men and women. The women were beautiful and elegant in their movements, while the mens high energy kept you on the edge of your seat. There was plenty of crowd interaction, including a part of the show where they brought about 12-15 guys of all ages from the crowd, onto the stage and taught them a few moves of the HAKA (which I think I did quite well, thank you). Likewise, there was a dance to teach to the ladies of the audience as well.
The fire show at the end was moved outside, for obvious safety reasons. Yes, there were patrons of the hotel that got to see it for free, just because they happened to be there. So what? They missed all the other stuff. The guys were very impressive. There were a few close calls where you thought they might miss a catch or something, but A, they didn't, and B, I think that adds to the realism, that this is real fire, and real knives, and it's not easy, and it is dangerous!
After the show was over, the performers hung around, talked to people, took pictures. They were very professional, fun and personable. Oh and by the way, these performers turned out to be the same people that greeted us and showed us where to park. The same people that checked us in and showed us to our seats. The same people that helped us to know where the food and drinks were, and how the whole thing worked. They did it all and never stopped smiling and being friendly.
My suggestion, book early and pay the couple extra dollars for premium seats. It's only a couple bucks more and it was worth it to us to sit right up front and have the best view. They also give you a ticket for when you move outside, which guarantees you a good seat for the fire show too!
5 stars, because i can't give more! Thanks for...
Read moreThis review is for the Polynesian Fire Luau show and their performers in Myrtle Beach at North Beach Resort. They started offering this on Wednesday nights at North Beach Resort. I grew up in Wilmington, NC so I have seen almost every show Myrtle Beach has to offer except this one. North Beach was advertising a Luau at the swim up pool bar so I bought VIP tickets for the family and had a outside table right up front. I was happy when the group that showed up announced themselves as “Polynesian Fire.”
The show was lively, fast paced and entertaining. Dancing was excellent and multiple members of our party went up for the hula lessons. The portion with the fire dancers was excellent and we were enthralled. The music is loud, authentic and catchy. People all over the resort were on their balconies cheering them on. In my opinion, Myrtle Beach needs more entertainment like this. There is a reason it is number #1 on many review sites. Top marks for this performance group and I will follow up with a full video review on my channel soon.
A couple comments about the North Beach Resort wait staff and food. They were somewhat organized but definitely understaffed. Took 35 minutes to take our drink/food orders as VIPs. My Mahi-mahi was small and dry and the cookies were under done. Definitely not our waiter’s fault as I saw him hustling hard. Bar drinks were on point though!
Management definitely needs to keep this show as patrons love it but they absolutely need to staff the food service appropriately and get the food quality dialed in. Management, this is YOUR responsibility, give this event some love and staff it appropriately.
If you are staying at North Beach Resort, pay to see the “Luau” to see Polynesian Fire! They really should state it is Polynesian Fire to advertise it better in my opinion. You will get fed but more importantly be well entertained without having to leave the resort.

Only the last 20 minutes of the fire show was descent.
Some of the reviews truly reflect what low standards people have and that eating subpar food in a moldy basement is okay.
They deserve a better venue. One that would bring them into 2024. The venue is outdated. The carpet is soiled and when you walk in it smells like mold. It's dark, dirty, dusty, spider webs, mildew and damp. A complete turn off. Get ready to walk into what looks like an outhouse. If you have mold allergies, dust mite allergies or respiratory issues stay clear of this place
The show is for kids. Quirky jokes and a start off with something that resembles a scene out of THE WEDDING SINGER.
Cheap $1.00 store Hawaiian Leis.
Pay for the show because the food is absolutely abysmal. Do not expect authentic Hawaiian choices even though it says on the website site "Polynesian Fire is an authentic Polynesian dinner show "
The previous reviews about the food is accurate. No they don't serve food people will like. It's trash. The bread was dry and hard. Pulled pork (not sure what that was) the fish was out of a box. The vegetables were cold. Rice isn't even real. It does appear that they are recycling uneaten food and simply reheating it. They should be reported to the health department. COME ON!!! It's disgusting.
Anyone thinking much of the ambience and giving anything above a 3 for the food has extremely low standards. Even the Old Country Buffett was a step up from this awful disgusting presentation.
As a business owner myself the owner responses on most of the complaints are extremely unprofessional and dismissive.
For the ticket cost bring your venue into 2024 gut this place and upgrade and serve descent food! This...
