Great Wall — Restaurant in Myrtle Beach

My office ordered from Great Wall. While ordering, they specifically discussed my allergy to msg and were assured that my shrimp and veggies combo would be made without msg. When my meal arrived, labeled with my name, the shrimp/veggies/rice were in the same container. There was also a side of soup, a crab rangoon and egg roll provided with the meal.

I called the restaurant to confirm that my meal had no msg and to ask about the sides; egg roll and crab rangoon. I didn't touch the soup. They confirmed that there was no msg in my meal, said that the crab rangoon was also msg free but that the eggroll had a little.

After two bites of the rice that was in the same container as my shrimp, I started to become extremely ill and showed signs of an allergic reaction. I had to leave my office. Today I'm still feeling the effects of the allergy and I've been very ill all weekend

Not only was Great Wall informed about my msg allergy when the food was ordered, they confirmed that there was none in my food when I called them myself!

I've missed work and still dealing with it today.

There are other Chinese restaurants in the area that make delicious Chinese and they do it without msg. Great Wall should follow their example.

Do not trust Great Wall to take you seriously if you have an allergy....

There is a reason this is a local’s favorite. Everyone orders from Great Wall that I know. The whole family is nice, and knows me when I call thought I don’t order much, and it seems that way with a lot of locals. It’s always clean, and the food is great, and I’ve had everything from appetizers, to noodles, to egg foo (which has really good gravy), to general tso. No matter how odd the order she accommodates well, and is always apologetic if it’s going to take more then the time it takes to drive there to pick up. I’m really happy to see they are open again. The fried rice had absolutely no flavour, there was nothing but rice not even egg, the chicken at an additional cost was artificial and as white as a Bob Ross mountain painted peak it also had no flavour. Chicken mcnuggets would be proud and jealous at it's fakeness. Even soy sauce could not help this no taste rice dish. Counter service was nonexistent friendly. The only reason for 2 stars was a live person( still debating on that) and my horrible meal took less than 10 minutes. You're in the mood for good Chinese this is...
