Myself, and 3 kids (16,15,&12) came for dinner tonight. After reading the reviews I hoped the bad ones were just what I thought to be and gave it a chance. And boy was I right!! Whoever is leaving bad reviews 1. Probably didn’t like the price. 2. Is so picky they should stay home. 3. Probably should just stay home anyway. We were greeted and sat within seconds of walking through the door with pleasant hostesses. Chatted with us and were super friendly. Our server was super nice but very quiet spoken so was a little hard to hear him sometimes but overall he was awesome. The mermaid was there and she gave the kids bead necklaces (Mardi gras style) and they loved it! She was swimming around blowing bubbles and the kids of all ages loved her. The pirate came around multiple times telling jokes and checking on people. Now the main thing we came for. The food. There is three tables the main being meats, hot veggies, and condiments. A nicely stocked salad bar with soups and a beautiful prime rib. Then a dessert table. There was plenty of non seafood options and surprised there was buffalo wings which my youngest loved! He gave them 9/10 on wings alone. The mini crab cakes were delicious. The ribs were a little too fatty but kids said they were good otherwise and we didn’t come for the ribs. The crab legs…were amazing, flavorful, and just perfectly cooked and didn’t stop coming the whole time. My son said he didn’t know if the crab legs were the best he ever had or if it was the hot butter that took it over the top. I warned the kids before we sat down to only get what they would eat and do it in small portions they can always go back. Which helps keep the dishes perfect. Crab legs go cold and they are harder to open. So one or two a time instead of heaping your plate is key to enjoying the food and not wasting what you can’t finish. The fried shrimp were delicious as well. I saw a review that complained about the bread food being soggy. Well yeah it happens. It’s hard to keep breaded fried food crisp In a chaffing pan. The ones toward the end/bottom will have some softness to it but they were still delicious and when a fresh batch came around, lawd it was good. Well all had an amazing dinner tonight and still full from it even hours later. My one and only complaint is the steamed shrimp and cocktail shrimp weren’t deveined. I don’t mind taking the shell off but the vein does get into the mind and makes it hard to enjoy. I tried one and had to pass and was really looking forward to some shrimp tonight. But everything else was hot, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The crab legs were the main goal and did not disappoint at all. I anticipated the cost including drinks, and was about spot on when I got the bill. I did think we could get a military discount but not a huge deal if we didn’t. Discounts are perks not mandatory or expected. Food 9/10. Service 9/10. Environment 10/10. Clean, fun, worth the price for sure. We were told before we started eating what the price would be and enjoyed every minute of it. Also loved the fact the kids were so busy eating and hands were messy no one was on their phones. Thank you for a wonderful dining...

Fabulous experience! All that staff were very friendly and all were fully dressed in pirate clothing. The atmosphere is well decorated and the restaurant was incredibly clean. The staff were constantly cleaning. The crab legs were well stocked, very hot, and shelled easily. All of the bar food was kept at proper temperature and well stocked. The selection was excellent. The peel and eat shrimp has very good flavor and easy to shell. The prime rib was moist and perfectly cooked. They had au jus sauce as well. The bar was kept clean and plastic gloves were provided to handle the dipping spoons if you like (which we always use). The hot butter, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce were spot on! The kids in the place LOVED the live mermaid in the pool inside the restaurant. The staff seemed to enjoy working there. The price was just over $48 per person, so you have to come with an appetite. We eat tons of crab legs and know how shell them quickly so it is worth it to us by far. Our daughter ate a cheaper supper before we came and the price would not be worth it for someone who does not have a large appetite or eat seafood (although they had plenty of non-seafood items but you can get that cheaper up the street at Southern Chicken buffet). We used a $4 off per-person coupon from Pirateland Campground front desk, so try to get one of those. It helps a little! The bathrooms were very clean. Watermelon was fresh and had a great taste. The dessert selection was pretty good but we are usually too full from crab legs! The salad bar and hush puppies are great, but don’t fill up on much of that when you are paying for prime rib and seafood! This is a great place to visit and you will leave stuffed but happy! Hope the...

Slightly disappointed. Brought our 3 kids here in a Wednesday evening while we are vacationing in the area. Literally 2 other cars when we got there, that was a bit concerning but we continued on.

ATMOSPHERE: This was the biggest disappointment. Apparently the mermaids aren’t there anymore because of the season, recent reviews mentioned they were there so I was hoping they would have been because that would have been a big hit with the kids. Interior decor was cool, and the cannons blasted off 1-2x when we were there’s. Outside of the server wearing some light pirate attire, there was no cool Pirate stuff going on. Normal Music, no pirate lingo or accents, I kind of assumed there would be pirate like characters walking around and making things fun, but that was non existent.

FOOD: Buffet was hit and miss, crab legs were awesome and plentiful, prime rib not so great (overcooked and not served warm enough) peel & eat shrimp were tough, flounder was tough, corn was watered down, etc. The catfish, wings, and fried shrimp were pretty decent. Salmon and chicken Marsala was ok. We tried a lot of other things as well, most of it was just mediocre. Salad bar was pretty good and the desserts were pretty good too.

SERVICE: outside of the server not really bringing any pirate fun whatsoever, I will Say she was good about clearing plates, bringing new baskets for the crab shells, refilling drinks etc.

All in all, maybe on a weekend night in “peak season” things are a bit more lively, but for spending over $200 after tax/tip for 2 adults and 2 children (youngest was free) it didn’t really seem like the value was there given the mediocre food and lack of...

Craving a special place to satisfy our snow crab leg obsession, we stumbled upon Pirate's Table Calabash Seafood Buffet on Google Maps. What truly captured our children's hearts, though, were the real mermaids! Ample parking made arrival a breeze, and even if there's a wait, it's an adventure. The mermaids expertly charm younger guests, while a walk-through gift shop and booming cannons on the wall, pirate dressed staff keep everyone entertained. While I initially worried about limited food choices at a themed restaurant, Pirate's Table surprised me with an abundance of delicious options. We've been to pricier buffets in the area, but none compare to the flavor explosion here! A special shout-out for the raw oysters, a rare find at buffets. Everything, including the coveted snow crab legs, was cooked to perfection with an extra touch of flavor magic. But the true hidden treasure for us? The fruit selection! The strawberries were colossal and bursting with sweetness, and the pineapple was equally delightful. We even joked about returning just for the fruit buffet! One nearby table, however, seemed slightly disappointed – apparently, they're regulars who come specifically for the chocolate-covered strawberries, which were out that day. A friendly note: the staff, while incredibly fast and efficient, seemed to hail from Eastern Europe and might have had occasional communication hiccups. However, it didn't detract from the overall experience, which was fantastic!
