I have visited this restaurant twice now, the first time was to try it out and get a to-go order. I ordered the mini-chimi appitizer to go. It was ok, but for $15 I thought it was lacking flavor and substance. My sister came into town last night so I thought I would take her there for dinner. We waited 45 minutes for a table while there many, many empty tables available the whole time. When we were finally seated, we were walked all the way around the back of the building and seated right next to the parking lot; not a very desirable place at all. One server came and said she would be right back, which never happened. Another came and took our order but the drinks took as long as the food to arrive. My sister had the chicken chimichanga which she said was very good. I had the queso-birria which was absolutely disgusting. It was shedded, tastless beef with queso in WET corn taco shells. I asked how they were made and was told that the meat was slow-cooked like pot roast and placed in hard corn taco shells and then dipped (or soaked) in the consome that the beef was cooked in and there was consome on the side to dip them in more if they weren't wet enough. YUCK! Although everyone working there was pleasant, no one ever asked how our meal was, if we wanted more drinks or anything else. I love Mexican food, most mexican restaurants, taco trucks, the whole works but this place isn't one of them. The menu is very limited and not up to the standards of the other restaurants owned by these owners. I hope they improve with time but as of right now, the only good thing about this restaurant is...
Read moreI used to enjoy stopping by Neal and Pam’s (same owner as sloppy joes cantina) — good drinks, decent location, and a chance to unwind. But sadly, this place has taken a nosedive into blatant political messaging that completely alienates half its customer base. It’s shocking to see a local bar so tone-deaf that they openly broadcast Fox News, a network notorious for spreading bigoted, inflammatory, and often outright false content.
Let’s be clear — this isn’t about a difference of opinion. This is about choosing to air a “news” channel that pushes divisive rhetoric, attacks marginalized communities, and perpetuates culture wars all under the guise of journalism. When a bar decides to blare Fox News on its TVs, it’s not just playing a station — it’s sending a message about the kind of patrons they want and the kind they don’t.
It’s Business 101: you don’t alienate your customers by dragging politics into your establishment. A neighborhood bar should be a place where people of all backgrounds feel welcome. But when you make the intentional decision to shove propaganda down your guests’ throats while they’re trying to relax and have a drink, you’ve clearly chosen sides — and lost a huge chunk of your audience in the process.
Neal and Pam’s, you’ve made it clear where you stand. But in doing so, you’ve made it clear where I (and many others) won’t be standing anymore — and that’s anywhere near your bar.
Do better. Or keep watching your loyal customer base walk...
Read moreIf you like basic Mexican food with no flavor, then this is the place for you! The guac was wet avocado chunks, not mashed or mixed with a ton of lime or lemon juice. We ate it, but nothing to write home about. The two tacos were good, but you can only order two of the same. They just came with cheese and lettuce. Asked for rice on the side and it was plain as plain can be. For the price it wasn't worth ordering the tacos. Luckily the meat was tasty! My sister got steak fajita quesadillas which weren't too bad. My alcoholic beverage was decent but a little bitter. Decent pour though. Lol.
Speaking of pour, it was drizzling outside and while there's a decent shelter for the outside patio, it was dripping all over our table, my phone and splashing into some of the food. Same with other patrons.
Our waitress was friendly and super kind (not blaming her at ALL for anything. She was wonderful) but a lot of the other staff is young and a bit awkward lol. Maybe its their first job but they need to get their bearings fast before tourist season is in full swing. The menus were dirty too. Wet and dirty.
The location is cursed in my opinion. I've seen it change hands so many times after the marshview and the kitchen upgrade.
If you want a bite to eat for almost $15 for two tacos, then this is your jam. If not, you can get better food on the actual marshwalk.
Maybe I'll try again after a month or so but its not really...
