I will never again eat at, order from, or recommend Toffino’s ever again! Years ago when I first moved to Myrtle Beach from Chicago, I was happily surprised when I came across Toffino’s, it felt like a little bit of home right here in Myrtle Beach. Over the years, the service and the food quality have gone down, still the food was better than most; I just stopped dinning in. Their traditional Italian bakery made it worth stopping by to pick up a box of assorted pastries, cakes, and cookies, even if the customer service was going downhill. But, after this last experience I will never go back to Toffino’s, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. Unless, I’m asked where someone can go to be insulted and given an attitude. I just stopped by to pickup a couple box of pastries from their bakery. It’s Saturday morning, cars are in the parking lot, and the door is literally wide open. I stepped inside, walked to the bakery case filled with pastries, and I asked if I could pick out an assortment. I was told that they were not open. I asked if I could just pick a few items that were right there in the case. I have no issue with being told their system cannot process orders before the place opens, which was in about 25 minutes. I did not know that Tofino’s was not open, to the contrary, they looked open and ready for business. What I do take issue with was the way I was spoken to.. I was approached by a dark haired lady who said “you need to leave now.” I followed her to the door, which was still open by the way. I exited as she followed me out, as if I was going to run back in, grab a tray of pastries, and run out the door… lol… Though she stated she was some type of server supervisor, I think she is more suited to be a bouncer at a back alley club, definitely not someone in charge of an type of quality customer experience. I told her that I did not realize they were not open yet, and I understand not being able to ring up a couple boxes of pastries until they’re open, but I did not think that she had to be so rude about it. She simply double down on her rudeness, and said that I did not belong inside, and I had to leave; that I could come back in 30 minutes. To which I obviously responded that I would never go back again. A box of pastries usually runs me anywhere from $45-$65. I can easily spend over $100 just in pastries every time I stop by. Cost is not an issue, you pay for quality. Someone may want to remind those working there that quality is not just quality of food, but quality of service and customer experience. I will never go back.
Thank you for your response Chris, but no thank you. I will...
Read moreToffino's is nestled among what feels much like a village from the next great rom com. If I saw Reese Witherspoon herself running lines on the outdoor patio as the fountain sang rhythmically near by I would only say to her, be sure to order the Prosciutto Lady as a calzone and take a lobster tail home with her. I would wait expectantly for the movie to debut and be in possession of an opening night ticket. As the previews ended and the reminder to set my Google review writing device to "silent" illuminated the theater I would expect the opening scene to play upbeat Italian jazz while a preciously dressed Witherspoon sauntered into the Bakery and Deli carrying a straw hat donned with a blue gingham bow. The quaint homes boasting southern charm her only backdrop. Reese would be seated at a table on the patio where the fountain and bocce ball courts are just in view. Her creatively clad waiter, Sean would bring her delicious meals, fresh from the kitchen but do so with nothing short of comedic hospitality, which he is certain to share with all those he serves at Toffino's. When it comes time to order pastries, Witherspoon would be torn between the luxurious chocolate eclair and the decadently unique lobster tail. Witherspoon would inquire Sean's most adored pastry only to learn that his pallete's preference for particularly sweet pastries was dampened by his dislike of whipped cream and cake. Sean sought is confectioners prescription within the contents of his nightstand. Peanut butter M&Ms, Skittles and Starbursts were his sweet escape, of course his choice often muddled by the presence of wrappers on one of his three musketeers. She would order both to go and as Sean delivered the perfectly prepared parcel to her hands she would anxiously await eating them. This romantic comedy would not be one who's story leads Witherspoon to a tall, dark and handsome man. No, her love would be found within the atmosphere and cucina of Toffino's Italian Baker Deli and Pizza. A love that will lead her back again the next time she vacations to the sea at...
Read moreMy family and I stopped by the bakery after hearing such great reviews. I lived in Boston for many years, and lobster tails are by far my favorite - so we had to stop. I was really taken aback by how UNwelcoming the staff behind the bakery counter. No one said hello - just “what would you like?” I wasn’t ready to order anything yet - I was waiting on my daughter and husband, who were in the bathroom. While we ordered, the staff was VERY clearly impatient and seemingly inconvenienced. (There wasn’t a single patron inside ordering besides us, and we were there long before closing, so, we were very confused about what we’d done to bother them!) They were even talking about us amongst themselves while my husband chose what he’d like, and we were there a total of 15 minutes, including time waiting for food prep. I tried my hardest to be friendly and light-hearted, though, hoping I was catching the wrong vibe. When I ordered my sandwich, I was never asked about a drink, so I forgot and had to place another order, and when i was asked about the side I wanted, I asked if I could have fries. (I’ve never been here, I didn’t know!) The woman who took my order rudely told me that fries were not a side. I then had to ask what the sides were, because she just snarled at me. I was never thanked for my order, and it was just plopped down on the counter for me to figure out it was ready. What an INCREDIBLE disappointment. With that said, the food is fantastic. I’m assuming this is family owned, because there are MANY comments about specific people at the bakery being rude - I know I wouldn’t tolerate it as an owner. Good thing we chose to visit for the food and not the atmosphere! If you’re looking for atmosphere, I’d proceed with caution. If you’re not from around Myrtle, make sure you know exactly what you want and order quickly so you can...
