The egg drop soup smelled like it was rancid, we didn’t eat it. As a doctor I frequently observe food preparation when we eat out. So I ordered a couple of hand rolled sushi for my wife and I. While we were waiting for our sushi rolls one of the employees was adding uncooked food to serving containers that had tongs in each container for diners to serve themselves items to be cooked in a stir fry bowl by restaurant cooks. The employee was wearing vinyl gloves over each hand but he was reaching into different plastic containers that had different “proteins” (raw chicken, beef, fish, crab, sausage, and shrimp) to refill the the serving containers. The main problem is that I watched the employee dipping his gloved hands into a 2 gallon plastic tub of uncooked chicken, filling up the serving container of uncooked chicken, then dipping his contaminated gloved hands directly into the container of raw shrimp to fill up the uncooked shrimp serving container without changing gloves. I was aghast to watch the employee continue filling up the serving containers of uncooked shrimp, chicken, red snapper, crab, and beef USING THE SAME VINYL GLOVES !! Did the manager not train his employees in safe food handing practices ? Did the employee realize he just contaminated hundreds of pounds of uncooked food ? I told our waitress that I saw an employee contaminate the food that patrons serve themselves for stir fry and she told the manager. He didn’t seem overly concerned and just changed out the metal tongs in 6 food serving trays. As the manager passed by our table I stopped him and told him his employee just contaminated their uncooked food in their serving line, he didn’t say anything to me but he raised his hand towards me like telling me to shut up ! I told him that people with allergies to seafood could die if their raw meat container was contaminated with shrimp and a patron unknowingly chose contaminated meat or chicken.....the manager looked at me and walked away...he did not take any action. My wife said we can’t eat at Super Yummy again because if the staff unintentionally contaminated hundreds of pounds of food in the serving area, then who knows what type of unsanitary, potentially dangerous practices occur in the kitchen knowing that the manager does not adhere to safe food practices!!! The restaurant should fire their manager, teach employees safe food practices and throw all their contaminated food in the trash before the...
Read moreMy friend and I had heard good things about Super Yummy but hadn't gotten to check it out, well when my boyfriend came into town we decided to try it, our waitress was Savannah and we were her FIRST table as a waitress EVER, and she was amazing. She was just the right amount of attentive, but also gave you space to chat , eat, enjoy the experience. The first time we ordered the cream cheese puffs and my bf had the shrimp egg rolls, I also got a crabmeat salad, and a shaggy dog roll, everything was fresh and delicious.
We actually went a second time on the 13th to treat a friend of mine to an early Valentine's on us. I gotta say you HAVE to order those cream cheese puffs because the cream cheese is all one consistency unlike pretty much any other place in town, the wonton wrapper they're in are fried to perfection, light & crispy. Now I'm not sure what the vegetable in with the crabmeat salad is, my friend tried it and thought cucumber, which I'm not a big fan of, but that w/ a sprinkle of panko crumbs, it's delicious, a small little pre-meal salad for $3.75, not bad.
Okay so now for making my own bowl the first time. So first of all I didn't realize I had to fit ALL the choices into the little silver bowl, so I accidentally REALLY loaded up on the crab & scallops and didn't leave myself a lot of room for many veggies or anything else, the poor guy behind me is following my lead, but I learned to be more intentional w/ the portions of my selections that's pretty important and personally I think Station 3 should really by station 2, because it's more important to season the protein before you pile veggies on. It was still yummy though. If you don't like any of the premade bowls, but like fried rice or noodles and want to kinda pick & choose, opt to make your own. But I think so far this is THE BEST thing they've put in that space since I've been back in Nac going on nearly 9 years now. I even tried China Star or whatever after they got shut down and reopened, meh. But Super Yummy earns it's...
Read moreMy neighbor and friend was asked to introduce me to places he enjoyed but that I may not find that easily being new to the area.
This time he brought me to Super Yummy with a set up that was entirely new to me.
You, unless you wish to order from the menu, are given a bowl to fill with your choices. You are also supplied a card to list whether you want rice, noodles, or tortillas to be added to your meat, fish, or poultry selections.
This may sound complicated but it was not. You put your table number on the card and proceed to the food area.
A diversified selection of goodies and here you decide what and how much is to be cooked by the chef.
In addition there are sauces, spices, and add on like onions, corn, and jalapeño peppers.
The original bowl may seem small but a lot of food can be put in it. When the selections are prepared your server brings the hot food to your table. Then you notice it is a large portion once cooked and the rice or noodle selection is added.
The food is good and since you selected the type, amount, spices and sauces your meal is completely enjoyable.
Comes to you hot and I enjoyed every bit of it. A new eating experience that I will recommend to you.
The price for this tasty meal prepared by you and served hot is less than $10.00. Service was attentive and served with bottomless iced tea.
Parking is no problem and the restroom was clean which is always important in a restaurant.
Return visit on 9/17/20 was even better than the previous one. Additional health precaution provides the customers with disposable hand gloves for dishing up their selections to be cooked by the Chef. Smart and safe for everyone during...
