Edit: I'm keeping the description of my original experience down below but I wanted to point out that after seeing my review, management listened to me and remade the meal for me. If you have issues with customer service, talk to the management first. As someone who has been in management and customer service for several years I can only hope the professionalism the managers have bleeds into the rest of the staff. Changing this from 1 star to 4.
I went through the drive thru and ordered the "curry tofu (fried tofu)" for the first time. I was pretty disappointed that when I got home the tofu was practically straight out of the package. It didn't even look pan-fried. That's okay, I thought. So I called explaining that the menu item wasn't cooked as described. I argued with the girl for 10 minutes and could not get the replacement I wanted or even my money back. At first she said it was because the tofu soaked up the sauce. I said, "Ive had fried tofu from you before. And I know how to cook it myself, this was never fried.". So then she changed her tune and said, "the tofu is steamed for that dish" and all I could say is, "the Curry Tofu that says fried tofu on the menu AND drive thru board says FRIED but its not fried?" And she said that was the case. So I gave up and said they needed to update their menu if they aren't going to cook the item as advertised. I used to love this restaurant before they moved locations. So its disappointing that a restaurant that I have loved for years has an employee that treated me like an idiot when they made...

In this day and age, who could ask for more? The photos belie how hand-made this cuisine is. They also take special requests. As soon as you see the sign for this place, you know "This is ritzy and the creators spent a little extra time on it."
I asked for a free cup of tea and they gave it to me out of the kindness of their hearts! The veggie delight was beyond delicious. And the egg drop soup didn't taste like MSG at all. The head chef is amazingly kind and everyone is just wow.
Remember, you can ask for things that aren't on the menu, and they add a personal flair to everything!
I didn't ask my mother how she liked hers because she was too busy digging into everything, heehee. :) To me, Peking cements Nacogdoches as a food and cultural mecca. It's also across the street from one of the most beautiful Wal-Marts ever.

Read morePeking sets the bar for Chinese food as we know it in the US as far as I am concerned. I have yet to find a Chinese joint this delicious, in either DFW where I now live, or in the Houston are where I am from. It basically defines a "whole in the wall" type of place, which means that it certainly is not going to be as well maintained as a PF Changs or Pei Wei. That being said, if I had my choice and you were going to either drive me all the way to Nac to eat at Peking, or just down the road for PF Changs, I would undoubtedly say Peking without hesitation. The food is just that delicious. Sure I enjoy visiting my Alma Mater and my friends who live in Nac, but despite having graduated from SFA over 10 years ago, I still return just for the Kung Pao Chicken (my friends fully understand this, and do not mind!). In fact, one of the ladies working there has been there all these years, and can still remember my order even though I only come in once a year. Perhaps I was a frequent flier? Perhaps Peking is responsible for my freshman 15...
