We tried this place for the first time last night, and while I wanted to like it, I just didn't. We ordered online for take out. It seemed far too expensive for what you get. $74 (plus tax) for 3 14" pizzas. One was cheese, one supreme and one "Piccante." The crust was a decent texture for NY on 2 of the pizzas (and one was undercooked - see below), but really flavorless. The cheese pizza overall was pretty bland (and pretty thin on cheese, even for a NY style pizza), so I added parmesan and crushed red peppers that I had at home. The supreme that my wife had seemed to have an ok amount of toppings, but she was pretty underwhelmed at the taste overall. The Piccante is supposed to come with Sausage, Roasted Garlic, Calabrian Chili, Kalamata Olive, but they left off the Calabrian Chili. The crust on this pizza also appeared to be undercooked. So just a mediocre or less experience overall for a relatively high price. The one positive aspect to the food was the garlic knots, which we also ordered for an additional $10 (so our total was actually $84 plus tax). My wife and I did like these, while her son said he liked Filippi's knots better. But I bumped the food rating to two stars instead of one because of the garlic knots.
The two staff members I briefly interacted with seemed polite, but I barely had any interaction with staff. The place seems pretty echo-y, and boy was it loud and a bit chaotic feeling inside, and people just sort of seemed to be everywhere. I'm really glad we didn't eat there, as people would have been hovering over us while we ate. And like I said, it was very loud. We love to support family businesses, but I don't know we'll...
Read moreI was craving pizza while I was in Napa and came across a photo of a HUGE SLICE OF PIZZA! So of course I had to check it out!
Rutherford Family Pizza is located at the Food City Plaza (I think that's what it's called?). I remember always seeing this pizzeria the times I got coffee next door, but they were always closed, so I am glad I finally got to try them out!
Yelp Elite Dario O. and I came during their lunch special hours, which is any 2 NY slices + a drink for $12. Tuesday to Saturday 11 AM to 4 PM. I really wanted the huge slice of pizza so we ended up getting one NY Slice of pepperoni and one CA King Slice of pepperoni.
And wow! The size difference is mind blowing! How does a pizzeria make a pizza so big?! They serve NY Style Pizza so it's thin crust. The pizza was thin and crisp with a little fluff in the crust. Not super duper oily, too! The CA King slice of pizza held up well, too. You'd think that maybe it would be all flimsy and maybe oily, but nope. Not at all!
Service was great. After ordering, they'll serve the slices to your table. Whoever was working that day saw me taking pictures and videos so when a fresh pie of the CA King pizza pie came out the oven, I was invited to take a photo/ video. I'm so glad I did because that pie was MASSIVE! Lol! I almost ordered another slice just because.
Ambiance was chill.
I really enjoyed their pizza so I look forward to dropping by here for...
Read moreSOo, our family tried it. Thoughts: MEDIOCRE PIZZA ←•∞•→ TOO EXPENSIVE. ★ Ordered 4 times total. ★ 2 of those times I was told to come in 20 minutes for pickup and ended up waiting an additional 25 min and an hour the next ★ this place had me wait 2 out 4 times we ordered there. (not the end of the world, but not good odds either) ««« THE REAL KICKER THOUGH: »»» ★🤔.. i Waited for What,?. The pizza is average at best and made by teens who dont give af., I mean when you order pepperoni and it's ridiculously piled high in a few spots like 4 pepperoni mountains, you know it's not gourmet and that a teenager made it. Rutherford has an open kitchen so you can watch them squealin' and gigglin' whilst their hands scluptin' masterpieczzas ★ and pfft..😒 charge $2.oo per little ranch cup.! that killed it for me. when I paid $6 for 3 ranch cups .(one for each of my kids) sheesh! .. I walked out and said to myself "THIS F_..__............!!! " lol, well,. u know what I said lol !!

😉 hopefully I saved some of you from hemorrhaging your hard earned dough over for a highschool teenager to make you a pie with pepperoni piles piled high. those kids are playing around and messing up the pizza. pepperonis in the middle of the piles aren't even cooked thoroughly .the whole...
