Fowler Cottage was lovely (Great bathtub, comfortable bed) Quiet, safe neighborhood, and near Napa Downtown The check in online worked quite well and we were able to enter out cottage without issues. ( no staff is available during check in or out!)
Breakfast was a huge dissapointment. Not at all what they mention on their website. First and last photo are what they mention on their website and others what we got during our stay. The quality and amount was just not gourmet like. Food was bland, sometimes cold and very dry. We received text and also emails about the breakfast, ones our response did not show on their system so we received a text „no breakfast tomorrow?“. It was also confusing if we will receive the breakfast to our cottage or if the breakfast is at the main building (first morning we waited in our cottage as during the online check in we had chosen to have our breakfast there and suddenly received a sms saying the breakfast is served in the dining room) Breakfast staff kept changing during our stay. First breakfast: there were 3 people in the kitchen and they were arguing in the kitchen. They were very stressed. Second and third breakfast: One lady working. She was nice, but seemed to be in a hurry to serve us breakfast. She was also sneezing in the kitchen. Cottage and the surroundings not anymore so up to date as pictured on the website. Windows and cealing had spider webs Customer service poor if you need recommendations or help. We had contacted Inn on Randolph about some Napa recommendations before our arrival. Just a wine tour organizer was copied to an email sent to me by Sally. When the booking was made through your website (I was using my mobile phone) I did not realize that the FAQ had some recommendations. I wish Sally would have mentioned it on her Emails. I also contacted them about the breakfast during our stay, but got no response. We did not feel welcomed and the kitchen staff we met during our stay didn’t seem happy to be there. Other Inns we have been in USA have welcomed us with note or a small gesture. Our stay was special to me as we were celebrating my birthday and I chose this Inn because of the gluten free breakfast (I had mentioned this in my Email), so of course I thought they would have put a little bit more effort and even written a small...
Read moreI have stayed here before (many years ago) and booked a stay at the Inn on Randolph again, specifically because it advertises itself as a 100% gluten-free property. As someone with celiac disease, I rely on these claims for my health and safety. Unfortunately, this could not have been further from the truth.||During my stay, I found wheat breadcrumbs and wheat wraps in the kitchen—actual, labeled wheat products in a place that claims to be entirely gluten-free. The chef even tried to serve me a wheat wrap. She had told me she would leave the wrap in the kitchen (as she was leaving at 9:30am) for lunch and that I could go get it from the fridge. What I found was the wrap in a box, next to the package of wraps that are WHEAT wraps. When I brought this serious concern to the manager’s attention, she flat-out denied it was wheat and very dismissively replied via email, "Just checked with our chef – she confirmed the wrap is Gluten Free. You can discuss with her tomorrow morning during breakfast time." Only after I sent her a photo of the ingredients label did she change her story, blaming the merchant: “the mishap must have happened at the merchant who delivered the wrong item.” The team took no accountability for verifying that items delivered to them are gluten free, all while they are making a claim to be gluten free. In the same visit to the kitchen, I saw these WHEAT breadcrumbs. The manager, Sally, called it an "inconvenience." This isn’t just a minor inconvenience—it’s a dangerous lapse that could put people’s health at risk, and I would have ended up in the hospital had I not checked.||I asked to meet with the manager in person at check out to discuss it, and she declined. She promised to call me to follow up. That call never came.||Aside from the gluten-free deception, the property feels completely abandoned. There’s no front desk, no on-site staff, and everything is self-serve—from keyless check-in to taking your own trash out. The rooms are full of hand-written signs on post-its and on light switches/controls that say "do not touch." It felt more like an unattended Airbnb than a boutique hotel.||If you’re looking for accountability, service, or a truly gluten-free environment, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere. This experience was deeply disappointing and,...
Read moreA Lovely gluten free bed and breakfast in Napa. My husband and I only had a very brief stay here. We arrived at about 6:30PM (following a wine-tour in Napa) and left the following morning. Although we were hoping to arrive during the check-in window, we ending up getting back from our tour a little late, so we utilized the late check-in option. It was super straightforward.
The room was lovely and well appointed including a small gift basket of treats for our arrival (including a half bottle of wine, smart pop popcorn, chocolates, and homemade chocolate chip cookies). The chocolates in the gift basket were processed in a facility with wheat, so for those with celiac disease they aren't safe. There were robes and slippers available as well- the robes were just perfect, the slippers felt very cheap, but that's hardly a negative point. The wine fridge in the room is also filled with a local selection that can be charged to your room. We didn't partake since we just got back from a day of drinking. The room also had a mini-fridge and microwave- especially great for those travelling gluten free. There was also a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, which was nice, but snug if you wanted to share a bath with a friend (to conserve water, you know ;) )
The room was very quiet, the fireplace was lovely, and the bedding was the most comfortable I've had in any hotel. After a week in SF, the Inn on Randolph was the perfect escape from the noise and bustle of the city.
Breakfast was 100% gluten free and included an apple cinnamon muffin, gluten-free eggs Benedict and roasted potatoes. It was good, but not great. I was looking for something a little more gourmet, but it was certainly a solid breakfast. Also, the true freedom of not having to worry about your breakfast at all was so profoundly freeing as someone with celiac disease. The gluten-free chocolate chip cookies were tasty.
The service here was also fantastic. When I found out we'd be late arriving at the hotel, the inn keeper immediately sent along late-arrival instructions. When we realized our flight out was going to be later than expected, they were as accommodating as possible considering that the hotel was fully booked that night.
We would definitely stay here again next time we...
