See update below... #CrosstownPub #xtownpub I am so disappointed and even kind of upset with you guys. I've always come there for your wings. I bring friends I bring meetup groups n more and I've been coming there regularly for like the past 10 years. So I was in there about a month back. I ordered your wings and was quite disappointed by the size of them and I asked the waitress and she said they are your normal wings. I really didn't think they were. She said they are and nothing has changed. So I thought I'd give you the benefit of the doubt. I started eating them and called her over and told her that I know for sure these are not your normal wings not in size or taste or breading. And she simply said... okay. Didn't ask if I wanted to talk to anybody. didn't offer anything else in place of them. Not what I expected from you guys. So then I gave it about a month and I thought I would try again. So I called the other day and ask about your Wings. I said I don't know if you have a new vendor or what. But I wanted to ask if you were back to your old Wings because then I wanted to come in. She said you only have one vendor and nothing has ever changed. I sent word to Jim (the owner) and i for no response. I have to tell you crosstown... people know that something has changed. So I met someone the other day. Someone that knows "the manager" at Crosstown Pub. And he told me that you guys are now ordering Frozen Wings. I don't appreciate being lied to. Especially when I bring something up twice. I don't like being misled by being told lies and I'm probably not the only one of your customers that is experiencing this. Jim. Really? Lying to your customers... This is not cool on any level.
Update. Well now time goes on and it's August 15th covid is over mostly things have changed so I thought we would try this place again. Why? Because I've been coming here for about 10 years and it used to be my favorite favorite place. So we go and get a seat outside and it must have taken the waitress five passes by our table before we were even acknowledged. The place was probably about a third full so it was far from busy. I asked about drink specials and she said that their special is you call it. So I asked for gin gimlet. She delivers it I take a drink and almost spit it out. A gin gimlet is made with sweet lime juice. They put full strength lime juice in it so I call the waitress back and ask her about it and she said the bartender said that they don't have sweet lime juice do I want anything else so I ordered a Maker's Mark and 7UP. She said that's not on the you call it. Isn't a you call it actually you tell them what you want? So that was an issue. So then she comes back and says the bartender found sweet lime juice. Why he would send out something made incorrectly in the first place is beyond us. So she brings out another drink. I drank it but it was horrible. It was something watered down I don't know. But so far my opinion of this place hasn't changed. I was so hoping they would redeem themselves at some point so they could be my favorite go-to again. We order the chicken Lopes and they were fairly decent so I had some hope. Then we're sitting there talking for a while after we pay our bill and this young man behind the counter comes up to us and verbally assaults me. How I've got a lot of nerve coming there again after I leave a bad review with even putting the owner's name in there. I asked if Jim was the owner. He said yes. I don't see the problem. He went on and on attacking us on his patio. So this manager doesn't want people to give them a second chance? Is that what this is about? How ridiculous. But this guy was young. Late twenties maybe. Millennial obviously. Yeah really nice. Jim. Having people like this there. So at this point I could say no more second chances. Anybody that I talk to I will share the story with. Your manager assaults your customers wanting to give you a second...
Read moreBad experience. I am surprised they get such a high rating. We sat outside which is a nice setting. That is why I gave it a star. I ordered a Stella beer which they told me is on special so get the larger one for same price as the smaller one. Great! When it arrives I can see before I tasted it that it wasn't going to be good. It was in a glass that looked 10 years old and there were no bubbles. Tasted it and knew straight away why they are trying to get rid of it. It tasted like old beer. Anyways. I went for their 'juicy burger'. It says it's a 30 minute wait but it is worth it! Well okay, lets go for it. At the end of my order I was told it only comes well done. I was some what confused but I thought this must be then something real interesting and special. Granted I did receive it 30 minutes later but the burger tasted horrible and guess what, it wasn't juicy. It was simply way over cooked with some sloppy cold wet onion strips on it. It was a joke really. I gave up after a few bites and settled for the mediocre fries. My kids had the standard stuff chicken strips, Mac and cheese and fries with fruit. I ate some of theirs because if you remember my burger was a joke. My kids food was standard pub food. No imagination or creativity there either. It is a real pity that the food and drink is real poor here because the outdoor setting is nice. You got to change chef, food and if I took a peek I am sure that kitchen will need a good clean. Sorry for bad review, but I highly recommend not to get the burger, Stella and kids food. Perhaps their wings are good but I won't be going there...
Read moreMany years ago, I worked down the road from a place called George's and every week my coworkers and I would live for the half price wing day. It was out of control how much I loved their original dry wings spicy with a side of the super vinegary yummy hot sauce. Like I loved this place so much, my friends bought me tshirts and other George's Pub swag. I live in the city so obviously wings are available on every corner, but I need this specific dry rub slice of heaven in my life right now so I drive an hour out of my way to celebrate this gift to the world. I get there and am happy to see that it's still as divey as always, but the menu has exploded. I tried to describe to my server what it was I was on a mission to find. He was zero help. You could tell that he was obviously annoyed to even be bothered. He doesn't offer to bring me a sample of sauce or anything. He drops the food, stops by once and I say oh, it's not the one I was going for, but it's good. The server just turns around and walks away. He comes back once to drop the check. I was so disappointed, not only because it wasn't the one I was trying for, but it wasn't good at all. The wings were greasy and had zero flavor except for the cayenne dusted over the top. You can tell it was just shaken over the top, versus, coated in seasoning. I'll never make that trip again; which is just sad. Those were the best wings ever and now I'm on a mission to find the next...
